Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Meet people outside of my day to day life.
ABOUT ME
Originally from New Jersey, I've moved around with work to a few cities after college in the Midwest, having now lived in California, Virginia, Maryland and DC. Colorado is definitely my favorite place so far - due mostly to the weather. Here you get tons of sun and every season but you never have to deal with humidity, the people are laid back yet active, and just driving around this state can amaze you (take a look at my colorado pictures for evidence of this fact).
I'm probably what you would call borderline nerdish. I'm definitely not charismatic enough to be cool, but not nerdy enough to get the credit for being a complete nerd (which would actually be cool). I like going out, drinking, sometimes dancing (mostly due to drinking, and rarely well), live music, etc., and I'm definitely not a wallflower when I do go out. But I probably spend more time walking my dog, hiking, listening to the radio and taking photos of basically everything.
I like coffee. I like sun coming in through windows. I frickin' love avocados. I am happy with little things.
PHILOSOPHY
Be independent. Plan something. Make it happen. Learn from that and make a better plan next time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
The Denver meet-ups are always a good time. I've hosted and been hosted, and I love the opportunity it provides to meet new people.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've been a fan of couch surfing with friends for years, so CS seems like a great concept. I've had a great time hosting (I love Colorado, so I like helping others enjoy it), and the meet-ups both here and while travelling are great. As for surfing, I've had very limited... interesting... experience (see my one neutral reference below), so I'm not sure how much I'll do of that in the future, but everything is worth a few tries.

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a lot of music, watch a decent number of movies and read an embarrassingly small number of books. To narrow it down to favorites (which is not a constant):
Movies: the Fall, Clue, Clockwork Orange, Dancer in the Dark, Airplane, Amadeus, Best in Show
Music: Radiohead, Decemberists, Regina Spektor, Chopin, Bach, Paper Bird, Beenie Man, Goldfrapp, Fanfarlo, Feist, Owen Pallett, Miike Snow
Books: [the entire mystery/detective genre, Chandler & Christie leading the pack], the Fountainhead, Invisible Man, East of Eden (except for the ending)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
While I've loved my life so far, I'm not sure I've done anything amazing. I've done odd things. Stupid things daily. Fun things with friends. But I don't think any one thing I've done would amaze anyone, other than my grandmother, who seems constantly amazed at everything I do.
As far as what I've seen or experienced, Machu Picchu at sunrise and the Grand Canyon at sunset are probably the only intentional destinations that lived up to my often ridiculous expectations. Other than that, my amazing moments have been the simple, unplanned ones where the weather is just right, my mood is just right, and everything just looks right. To try and name all of those moments would be impossible, which is something I guess I should appreciate more than I do.
