About Me

CURRENT MISSION

enjoy every day :)

ABOUT ME

I got infected with the idea of traveling when I was abroad for a semester. Over there, I realised, how little I know about the "big picture" and tried to add small pieces to it eversince by discovering new places or getting to know people with different perspectives.

I picked up a bit from the Australian attitude (enjoy life, nature, be happy and laid back), although I am a passionate scientist and thus in love with my work (meaning I like to spend lots of time with it).

I'm talkative and sunny and try look at things from the bright side. So very often you will find me smiling, joking and telling stories from my life.

PHILOSOPHY

In scientific terms:
Discovery is seeing what everybody else has seen, and thinking what nobody else has thought.

In traveling terms:
The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment, I am traveling myself and hope to meet great people on the way. When back home, which will be around mid september, I am looking forward to meet and host surfers in Germany, although the city I'm living in is not very famous, except for industrial sites.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far but trying to get there...

Interests

Traveling. Obviously :)

Science. I love chemistry, although sometimes, it can be really exhausting. But I just can't stop asking myself WHY (...is a glow stick glowing? ...is teflon sticking to the pan but not to my food?)

Sports. Escpecially rock climbing. I always have to move and like to try something new from A like Aikido until W like waterball.

Books and music. It's seldom, that I don't carry a book or my ipod with me, we just need each other.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love "Doctor Who". Smile about the jokes in "The Big Bang Theory". Grew up with "Dawson's Creek".

I am still "Finding Neverleand" and looking for the "Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind". In the meantime, I try to find time to see "Star Wars" in "High Fidelity".

Books I stayed up all night for to finish them: The Book thief, Men like Gods, Insomnia (no kidding), Bad Karma, A visit from the goon squad.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Experiencing Chinese New Year in Chengdu with a Chinese family. Road trip through the Australian desert.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some easy Chinese dishes which I learned when living with a Chinese chef and from my Chinese collegues (we had an international cooking night once a week). My Mandarin is a bit rusty though.

My curiosity is not limited to certain things, so I love to learn whatever you teach me, sports, instruments, arts, magic tricks, science, everything is great.

We can share funny stories, travel experiences and German sweets :)
