ABOUT ME

We are an Irish-German couple living in Hamburg. We both met here when Ciaran moved to be in work as a postdoctoral researcher in chemistry in the city four and a half years ago. Anna meanwhile, is a teacher in a local secondary school in Hamburg.
As for Ciaran's Irish background, well it is rooted town of Drogheda in Ireland's not so green north-east. A tiny scruffy dark child was born and has since grown via an education in pharmacy and chemistry into the modern madcap scientist, plying his trade in the port city and sharing his life experiences with his fiancee, dog and cat.
Aside from work, Ciaran likes to play in a variety of ways, indeed in whatever way offered. In particular, watching the world go by while drinking coffee with friends is always fun; going out for drinks or even better staying in for something similar is also good. And best of all, travelling, seeing the world, meeting new people and enjoying all the things he does at home only probably just a little bit more:)
Anna meanwhile, having spent all her life in Hamburg still doesn't really want to go anywhere else, such is the apparent greatness of the place! Anna naturally shares many of the same tastes as Ciaran - including Guinness;) - as well as travelling, going out, dancing and sleeping!

Interests

All sports certainly, but especially football, irish Gaelic and hurling, golf and such; Going out, whether to the cafe, bar or club; Cinema and films, which are always good for a Hamburg rainy evening; computers because work demands that as much as anything; and much more that you could find out I guess, though that don't come to mind right now

Music, Movies, and Books

Ciaran not the reading type, Anna-Rebecca reads as much as possible for both uf us.
As for movies, well that's more our thing. Like anything with action, comedy or such, but not horror please. Recent favourite would be inception.....the Matrix was certainly cool. And James Bond rocks, though not quite so much of late....oh well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Why do they ask one....really, I believe every experience is in itself unique and wonderful and probably amazing, and if not, well you should really make it so yourself - with a little help from friends perhaps;)
But ok, you make us pick...
For Ciarán:I would say doing the Trans-Siberian rail tour; the varied experience of Russian 'hospitality' (anyone who has dealt with the train conductors will understand!) allied with the cultural variations apparent in Mongolia and China along the way made it an interesting but above all enjoyable experience.

For Anna: Living in Ghana for three weeks with a local family certainly changed something for me.
But traveling with Ciarán is certainly the most amazing thing ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

Anna-Rebecca is a teacher, as are Ciaran's parents. Ciaran would quite like to lecture in university somewhere in future. So we think we should manage to explain anything we know or have learned from home or travels to date!:)
