About Me
Hi there couchsurfers! :)
Before you send a request please keep in mind two things. First: this summer it will only be me (Marti), since Carol won't be there. Second: it may sound a bit discriminatory on my part (I accept criticism) but I will be hosting almost exclusively German speakers since I'm learning German this summer. If you don't speak German you very welcome to send a request, but chances are I won't be able to host you this time (although, who knows, maybe your request is so cool I won't be able to say no ;)
Also, remember: I only will accept guests during August (no exceptions probably, although if you meet the first criterium, I may consider it).
We're a couple form Barcelona who are currently settled in Paris. We came to this city to pursue our academic carreers, but not only: our ambition was to discover great cities such as Paris as well as french culture in general. Since then we've tryied to discover this city's secrets and wonders, and if you ever come to our's we'll surely be glad to share them with you :)
We consider ourselves open-minded above all, friendly, kind and also social.
We're extremely passionate about the arts, literature and culture ingeneral. But don't take us for some library nerds! We love to meet new people from other places and contexts, with nice and charming stories to tell, willing to share some laughs around a good diner with proper wine/beer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
On one hand, we think this is a great platform to expand a way of travelling which emphasies the experiences you create with other people form other counties.
Numerous times we've been invited to peoples homes (when hitchhiking, for example) to spend the night, and the welcoming spirit with which we were received was just something you which was shared across the world. I guess you could say this is our way to balance the universe's kharma :)

Music, Movies, and Books
I love cinema, whether classic, Hollywood or experimental. I also enjoy novels, poetry, literary theory, philosophy. As to music, I listen mainly to jazz, but I also enjoy blues, flamenco and guitar music in general (Marti).
I am extremly eclectic in my tastes. I love reading a book with a powerful and touching story. I appreciate good movies. I enjoy discussig about ecology, science and other important issues. I like popular folk songs and dance music. (Carol)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Probably it is not incredible but we enjoy moving around Europe (and maybe other continents in the future!) hitchhiking. We think that is a really good way to meet new people and we have had extremely nice experiences in the past.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We are open-minded and we enjoy sharing our own experiences and listening to other's stories, we would like to share our culture, our knowledge and our way of living to our hosts and to learn from them as well.
We enjoy visiting new cities but not as a common "tourist", we try to go inside the culture of the city and that is why we would be extremely interested in receiving advices from you (secret corners, alternative bars, gardens, ...).
We can cook some Spanish or Catalan food as "tortilla de patatas" and, if you want, we would be grateful to teach you some of the languages that we speak fluently (Catalan, Spanish, English and French).
Finally, we can offer our home in Paris if you want to come, and if it is not available, we can recommend you a lot of "secret" places in Paris where you would enjoy the city not as a tourist but as a real Parisian! :)
