Hi I'm Caro (25) and I'm currently in Graduate School at OSU in the Germanic Program. Originally, I'm from Germany, where I studied English and Art for Teaching. I'm also a printmaking artist, love cats and dogs, love to read good books and have great conversations. I enoy getting to know new people, cooking with others, travelling and getting to know other places. I love the Arts and the Academic World. I think I'm a great guest for you because I like to entertain others and have funny moments with new friends. I also like to share the experiences I've made in my life and would be interested in what stories you have to tell. :)
Generally, I'm pretty easy-going, clean and respectful towards others. Currently, my boyfriend Philipp and I are planning to travel to California and hope to experience it through your eyes ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think Couchsurfing is a great way to connect with locals to get to know a city that I'm foreign to. I've never used Couchsurfing in the States and would like to have some great experiences. I hope to connect with some of you even though I'm pretty new on this site and don't have (m)any reviews from others.

Interests

I love printmaking. If I could I would spend every free minute with that. I work on researching ways to improve the conditions of refugees in Europe, in particular Germany. I kind of consider that my second passion. I think that I have more to give to this community and want to achieve that through my research to help change the way people think about those in need and bring down the barriers of racism in Europe.
I also love my cat, which I have not seen in a while since I moved to Europe.
Other than that I also love beer, dancing, hnaging out with friends( new and old), learning about other cultures and experiencing life.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music at the moment is kind of everywhere. If it comes down to it though, I enjoy German Hard Rock, Punk Rock and acoustic the most. However, I'm always excited to learn about new band from any kind of genre.
Movie-wise, I have to say that I'm more of a TV-show junkie than a movie-person. I have so many shows on my watch list that I keep having trouble remembering them .. lol.. Definitely, I watch Grey's Anatomy, Modern Family, NCIS, New Girl, Mike and Molly. In terms of movies I like all the Melissa McCarthy ones and those with Bruce Willis.
In terms of books, I absolutely enjoy African and African American Poetry, novels by Buchi Emecheta, poetry by Rainer Maria Rilke, novels by Cormac McCarthy... and many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One Amazing Thing I've done is that I could be part of helping a young guy from Mali, who applied for asylum in my hometown in Germany to stay in the country for now. He is such a great and amazing young person and I'm happy to have been able to be part of the group that helped establish him as a member of the town's community, in which he is now respected. Our work also helped hold back his deportation and hopefully eventually help him achieve his goal to become a car mechanic, to be able to earn his own money, and of course score a bunch of goals with his soccer team :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to teach languages and art techniques, cooking etc... anything I know.. lol
Things I would like to share with my hosts is something from my culture. I love seeing people enjoy German chocolate :) I try to bring that with me when I visit you to bring a little bit of Germany into your home.
I would also like to learn from you: a new recipe, about some awesome local pub or beerkind I have not tried etc. Surprise me :)
