About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Be a good grad student and explore NYC! Yay for the big apple!
ABOUT ME
I love meeting strangers and striking up random conversations. Airplane and train rides are my favorite because you're normally next to someone for a long time. A captive audience!
I'm Canadian-American and have lived extensively in both countries. I just moved back to the US in July 2010 from Northern France. I lived in France for a total of 2.5 years (Voiron, Lille, Roubaix) and had many amazing experiences there. Vivement mon retour!
Coming up next on the agenda is the beginning of my second semester of graduate school and, hopefully, a more in-depth exploration of the Biggle Apple! Want to join me?
PHILOSOPHY
Loving God and others -humbling myself. Learning to be quick to listen and slow to speak. Reminding myself that life doesn't revolve around my own little belly button (as the French say!).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I never miss a beat to tell people how much I appreciate couch surfing! I would talk about it in the teacher's break room with my coworkers, with my friends in France and North America, with travelers and globe trotters alike, with fellow grad students and with anyone who's willing to listen! Some of my friends just signed up for CS-I'm really excited and hope others will join them!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I signed up for couch surfing during my time in Northern France. Couch surfing is not only a great idea, but an amazing community. When I was in Venice in October 2009 I randomly met quite a few couch surfers. Every where I travel I seem to meet more. In the Netherlands, I had dinner with a couch surfer I met through CS and received quite a few offers to meet up with other CSers. With every couch surfer I meet, there's always a wonderful exchange. They're open, curious and so willing to share their experiences. I met an amazing CS couple in Bordeaux and was delighted to host them in my apartment in Northern France. Bring on more couch surfing! I hope to meet more CSers in NYC.
Interests
Really learning to love Jesus and others!
Let's see what else-learning how to be a good primary school English teacher. This was the case until just last week. I finished my last day of teaching on June 30, 2010. I will miss my students very much.
Cooking-I have different phases where I'll try to perfect one thing. Early this year it was custard, recently it's been bread and apple pie.
Trying to learn how an "average" citizen can help/care for the less-fortunate.
Trying to escape my graduate student bubble to actually make time for others!
Immigrant and refugee rights and how I/world can help those in transition.

Music, Movies, and Books
Any kind of music really-it would be great to say that I'm a music connoisseur, but that wouldn't quite be the truth. My knowledge of music is a work in progress!
