About Me

Hi there! Ciao!
Thank you for taking the time to read my bio :)
I haven’t used Couchsurfing in many years. basically since I came to Australia on a working holiday visa in 2019 and somehow ended up finding the love of my life on a remote Aboriginal island. Fast forward to today: we’ve been married for 6 years (!), we’re currently living in Queensland (Australia), and we run our own café together. Life took a very unexpected turn for sure.

We also travelled extensively together in the past and we still do whenever we can, it’s something that has always been part of who I am, and I don’t think that will ever change. Right now, I’m getting ready for a much-needed solo trip to reconnect with myself and the world in a different way.

I once wrote that humanity can be divided into two categories: those who like pasta sauce with big tomato chunks and those who absolutely hate them. I’m still proudly in the second group ahah, although I’ve learned (under my mum’s watchful eye) not to leave the chunks dramatically pushed to the side of the plate anymore.
The line above is something I wrote over 10 years ago, and I’m leaving it here as a little memory of my 20-something self.. But if I had to say what I believe now, I think the world is divided into those who move through life with curiosity, openness and kindness.. and those who let fear close them off from people, places, and experiences. I try [not always perfectly] to belong to the first group! 🫶🏾

Describing yourself is hard, isn’t it? Much easier (and unfair) to judge others. But I’ll give it a go :) I’m a free-spirited, easygoing, and generally happy person who tries to see beauty in things. places, people, little moments. I genuinely love connecting with others, listening to their stories, and understanding the paths that brought them where they are.

I’m very adaptable and low-maintenance, I don’t need much, just good energy, mutual respect, and a bit of curiosity about the world!!

At heart, I’m still the same person who dreams of traveling endlessly, sleeping under the stars, and just loving life 🌻

PHILOSOPHY

"The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun." Chris Mccandless

Travel, to me, is one of the most honest teachers. It has a way of opening your mind without asking for permission, quietly reshaping the way you see people, places, and even yourself. I believe that stepping outside of what is familiar allows you to grow in ways nothing else really can. You begin to understand how differently life can be lived, and how little you actually need to feel alive. And in the end, with time passing faster than we ever expect, it feels almost essential not to settle for a life that doesn’t feel right, because every day spent disconnected from what makes you happy is a day you don’t get back.

"What is essential is invisible to the eye" ❤

Interests

Peanut butter, animals (not just cuddling them, I like to understand them!), keeping my mind and my body in movement in all the ways I can (any kind of sports, outdoor activities for the body, stimulating conversations for my mind! ) and the Nature around us. Have I mention penaut butter?
I like spending some times on my own, we all need some time for ourselves, but I also enjoy being surrounded by people (the right ones!).
I get along with kids and it seems they really like me 😉 I personally consider them as tiny humans with their own personality, some are amazing some horrible.
I studied cinema and photography at secondary school, I love everything has to do with that world, and art in general. I think art is everywhere, also in the smallest and more insignificant things at first glance, we only need the eyes and the heart to see it. I like also having long walks, to notice kind small actions that nobody else sees, smile to people, eating apples, spoons and spoons of peanut butter (just in case I haven't mentioned it) and chocolate and cookies (all right, all the sweets), chatting with random people, writing when I am inspired, and.. Music all the time, it's my drug!

If you, generous soul 🙏🏽, have accepted my hosting request, be sure to hide your peanut butter if you have any 😂😂 it's my addiction!! Just thought to warn you 😉

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading, I literally eat up books!! from the classic ones ("Wuthering Heights", "Pride and Prejudice"..) to fantasy and scientific books, romances, poetry, everything my friends suggest me.. "Into the Wild" is my Bible!
I like movies and also animation ones (Miyazaki and Disneys), and as I have already written music is my drug! Italian old composers, electronic, folk music, rock (also some metal), I like good music in general :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in Ireland for nearly a year as a very first experience abroad by myself, and that was just the beginning of what became a very adventurous life. There’s something about being far from home that makes everything feel more real, more intense. When you have to rely only on yourself, things start to shift, you discover a kind of strength and resilience you didn’t even know you had, along with a deeper sense of who you are..Volunteering in a rehab during that time truly reshaped my priorities and the way I see people and life.
Another beautiful memory is when I ’ve spent three months in Pakistan an experience that challenged and completely dissolved many of the stereotypes often associated with the Islamic world, replacing them with a much more human and nuanced understanding.
I’ve travelled through Asia and the USA, lived in New Zealand for a year, and I’m currently in the middle of another chapter here in Australia!!
