One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
1. I played music on the streets of Dublin, Ireland (and no one booed, which i count as a success ;) )
2. Slept on benches and fields all over Europe, while living out of a backpack with ease.
3. Hiked over 1.500 km and biked twice as much.
4. I performed a musical, took part in different smaller concerts and spoke twice in front of over a thousand people.
5. I've moved to follow my passion for travel and bringing people together - aka to study Leisure and Tourism Studies.
6. Met people who truly inspired me and always gave me a new perspective.
7. I was able to volunteer in two different refugee camps in Northern Germany.
8. Saw children grow and develop their very own ideas and characters, and being a part of that, which is one of the best things in life. To me, at least.
9. Learned how small this world can be (by meeting people i knew thousands of kilometres from our homes, like, on top of the italian Alps, greek islands, in swedish woods, and my best friend in the middle of Oxford Circus in London. Without any plans of doing so. Life's crazy sometimes :D )
Teach, Learn, Share
One thing i learned:
About three years ago I was blessed to meet an iranian family in Barcelona, only by pure chance. These four people and their story of living in a country where freedom - in any way or form- was such a privilige and so valued, changed my whole perception of life.
The struggle of even leaving the country for 4 weeks of travelling Europe was a process that took over 3 years of planning, praying, working and hoping. Especially the two children, Amir and Narges, who had such bright minds, kind hearts, and how they reacted to everything that was so different from their home, really moved me.
Living in a theocratic dictatorship their lives where planned out. The girl - no matter of her interest, intellegence, opinion, would always be limited to so little perspective.
That was one of the reasons, why they came to Europe - to plan their escape.
I truly believe that everybody who is given the freedom to move, travel, share their opinion and express their feelings is supposed to do so and work for those, who aren't as privileged as them.
I have no idea where Amir, Narges and their parents are today.
But i hope, they are alive and well, and that we'll one day meet again.
Things I love to teach and share:
My language, my love for music and how to play it. Guitar, Ukulele, you name it - let's get playing! :)
