About Me
I'm new to Couchsurfing, but I've heard nothing but rave things about it from friends and friends of friends and chance encounters.
My 9 to 5 as a nurse / IT trainer for the hospital doesn't permit me to travel much for business, but I've decided to take it upon myself as a personal goal to become better traveled in 2017. I'm most interested in visiting music destinations- not like Coachella (no offense), but I'd love to visit Chicago (again), New Orleans, New York City, Mexico City, Peru, London and Berlin. I absorb culture like a sponge and thrive on new adventures, perspectives & experiences.
My 5 to 11 is spent co-managing a local music event production company based in the SoFA Arts district of San Jose. Our M.O. has always been to provide a platform for emerging artists & a traceable tie to global music in our local soundscape. Many of the artists we have hosted were emerging then, but now grammy award nominated & winning such as Kaytranada, Mayer Hawthorne, Flying Lotus, KING, Robert Glasper, Thundercat, ?uestLove and even Kanye West.
I am also part of a local art entity, called Curate Good. We used to have the dopest little spot in a quiet corner of Japantown, but we're currently looking for a new space to call home. Together, we threw some great shows featuring local photographers and a traveling crew of international artists.
Aside from that, I dabble in the arts- writing, reading, radio DJing (we had a show on KZSU Stanford radio for a few quarters) and I play a little drumset.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've never hosted any of our artists at my house, but I really enjoy taking them around my city. San Jose is a bedroom community, it can be really hard to find any events or nightlife that seem worthwhile, but there's actually a really progressive arts scene hidden underneath the surface. I'm lucky enough to call many of those people who are helping to create that very 'scene' as my friends. I hope that after your stay, you can consider yourself an extension of us and rep the clique.

Music, Movies, and Books
I always come back to these books, they're timeless & thought provoking:
The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera
Letters from a Stoic by Seneca
I could ramble on forever about music, if you're really interested let's have a chat.
My favorite directors are Richard Linklater (A Scanner Darkly, Waking Life, Before Sunrise), Wong Kar Wai (In the Mood for Love, Chungking Express)
