About Me
[I am doing an Erasmus stay from feb-jul '22 so I am unfortunately not able to host people in Leipzig]
Hello there!
I am Caro [she/her], student, flat mate, friend, person.
Studying Cultural Studies at the University Leipzig. My favorites study's subject at the moment is feminist gender antropology. When its posible I love to explore the cultural sides of Leipzig - museums, theatre, opera. I haven't really dived into the clubbing scene though - if you're up to that we could explore it together.
Also, I actively take part in the political scene in Leipzig and frequently go to demos or events from several climate, anti-racist, feminist and other groups demanding justice. In Leipzig there is always very interesting political events, concerts and KüFas (kitchen for everyone) and an active sharing community.
In winter I am addicted to knitting socks and listen to audiobooks. And currently I have developed a passion for puzzling^^.
I am member of the university's orchestra and of a local inititative demanding the decolonization of the Leipzig Zoo. I also use to have a garden ('Kleingarten') with my friends where we grow vegetables.
Note on Covid-19: I got the full 3 Covid-vaccinations and if you want, I can also arrange to do a self-test before coming to your space. For me it's important you feel safe and of course traveling/visiting different places in a short time is a source of risk I want to handle resposable and therefore minimize as much as I can. If you want to stay at my place, please do a self-test before coming (if you are 3 times vaccinated it's optional). This is also in respect to my flat mates - if one person brings Covid home, all 6 have to quarantine/be cautious...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because I have had some very nice experiences with the platform. I am actually unsure if I want to support the commercialization of Courchsurfing, but until now I haven't really found a worthy alternative...
Interests
Hang out with my flat mates or friends, go on a walk, reading in my hammock, playing volleyball in the park or playing the violin. In general I like to analyse, learn, exchange and reflect about social power structures and to engage in in the fight for social and climate justice.
Guilty pleasures:
- being addicted to audiobooks (mainly Harry Potter which I don't feel ashamed for, but also True Crime Podcasts where I do)
- being terrible with music stuck in my head - you will always hear me sing or humm (if it's bothering you pls tell me to stop, often I don't even recognize I'm doing it)
- pickled herring (although I usually eat vegetarian or vegan)

Music, Movies, and Books
The last books that really impacted me:
Identitti - Mithu Sanyal
Where we stand: Class matters - bell hooks
White teeth - Zadie Smith
Radikale Zärtlichkeit - Şeyda Kurt
Always and ever: Harry Potter
Favorite master piece in music:
Shostakovitch First Cello Concerto (waaaaaauw)
movies:
The last documentary that struck me was one of Mads Brügger about a mole getting inside North Korea.
I am no movie expert, I enjoy anything but Hollywood romantic comedies (toxic dynamics, sexism etc. make me agressive lol). On trash TV I'm in again.
Teach, Learn, Share
Since two years I am into doing Acro with my friends. I can show you how to fly! 🤸🏽♂️🧘🏽♀️
And if you're interested I can give or arrange a private guided tour on (post-)colonial history, narratives and decolonial resistance in Leipzig.
