About Me

I'm just a French student planning on becoming an English literature professor at uni back in France. But I promise, loving literature doesn't equal to being boring! I love traveling, yet the money is clearly lacking.

I am in Vancouver right now, studying abroad at UBC for a year. I think this is the most amazing experience I've had so far in my life - going on exchange changed me. I am less shy, more open-minded, friendlier, more daring... And I've learned how to love people.

My passions are my horse (whom I'm terribly missing btw...), reading/literature in general (surprise!), Japanese culture (fancy way of saying that I watch animes and read mangas all the time), drawing and partying!

I am proud of the person I became, even if I am rarely someone people enjoy keeping contact with (apparently, I am a weirdo - and I like it that way !). So please, don't judge too fast and be open-minded to people you don't yet know!
I'm looking forward to meeting you all!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am currently an exchange student, and this experience changed my viewpoint on traveling. I used not to care about meeting other people, and staying on my own all alone was clearly what I aspired to. But now, I can't imagine traveling without meeting new people and making connections with people from all around the world. I think that if you travel to a place you've never been and, furthermore, you travel alone, your experience will be worth nothing if you don't communicate and meet someone. Someone to discover the city with, someone to tell your stories to, someone with whom you can create this sort of web, connecting you to this place which will only become dearer to you.
So this is basically why I am on Couchsurfing: to meet new people when I am out in the wild world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Well, music is my source of energy - I cannot survive a day without listening to a song. The only style I have a lot of trouble with is rap (and R&N), but I can always change my mind.
For starters, I'd say:
- Favourite soloist: Ed Sheeran, and it's been the case for 6 years now - and Tom Odell has been my obsession for 4 years.
- Favourite band: Bastille
I love indie rock, rock in general, and 90's music (okay I'm really bad with 'kinds' of music), basically 'classic bands' such as Nirvana, Pink Floyd, The Kooks, blablabla. Bjork, TOP, The Lumineers, Of Monsters and Men, all this kind of thing. :)

I love watching series (more than movies because I get super judgmental which prevents me from liking most of the movies, especially the overhyped ones). But the ones that really stroke me are Hachiko, a dog's story and Shutter Island.
In terms of series, I'd say Game of Thrones, Vikings, Peaky Blinders... and I'm currently watching House of Cards - and I LOVE it.

Books are even more vital to me than music, I'm a quick reader and I'm passionate about it. I'm very open-minded, I don't have a preference in terms of genres etc. but ofc, some are better than others:
- no hesitation, every single book written by Daniel Handler aka Lemony Snicket (I even have the VFD tattoo on my left ankle, so yeah, I am a big fan).
- 1Q84
- Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
- Lolita
Yes, I love children's literature. And my favourite poets are Edgar Allan Poe along with Charles Baudelaire (yes, I LOVE tortured souls!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I survived my horse's kick in the jaw. I am not even disfigured, I just can't feel the left part of my chin and I lost one or two teeth.
(It wasn't out of anger, I was just too close and didn't realise that his fellow horses were jumping happily all around him, and so he got excited, jumped and hit me with his hoof).
