ABOUT ME

I graduated last year in Human Sciences and am currently living in Colombia, working for an NGO that supports people living with HIV/AIDS. I will be in Colombia until late July, after which I will be moving to New York to complete a PhD at the university of Columbia in Sociomedical Sciences (basically medical anthropology). I am currently trying to perfect mt Spanish and gain as much experience as possible in public health.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have my own place in Cartagena, and am looking for an experienced Spanish tutor with whom I could take some private classes. Ideally I would like to have one class per day, of one hour long, starting June 17th. I can pay 20,000 pesos per hour for an experienced tutor.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed in 2009 in South America, and have hosted in England.

Interests

I love books, whether its science or ideas or fantasy stories. I love South America, and have spent nearly a year on and off, travelling, volunteering and working. I intend to do fieldwork here in the future as part of my PhD. I love the sea especially doing scuba diving or sailing and anything with adrenaline. I loved paragliding and can't wait to skydive. I love motorbikes as a form of transport.

Music, Movies, and Books

Stories, tales, fantasy, magic whatever. Some good books I read recently have been La Mujer Barbuda, Love in the time of Cholera, Love in the time of AIDS, Laughter out of Place, Half of a Yellow Sun, Midnights Children, Suite Francaise, House of Spirits erm... I love the song Personal Jesus (the cash version).
