About Me

Greetings fellow travelers!

I'm Carolina, a newly minted adventurer with a burning passion for exploring the world. I'm currently living permanently in the coastal paradise of Puerto Escondido, where I have the pleasure of managing a vibrant hostel. This role allows me to interact with travelers from all corners of the globe, sharing stories and fostering a sense of community.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing has become an integral part of my journey as it aligns perfectly with my philosophy of embracing every day as a magical experience. After being let go from my fancy job in Mexico City, I realized that traditional travel accommodations can often be impersonal and disconnected. I yearned for genuine human connections, cultural exchange, and the opportunity to delve deep into the heart and soul of each place I visit. Couchsurfing provides me with the chance to meet wonderful individuals like yourself, create lasting memories, and forge authentic connections that transcend borders.

Interests

As a lover of adventure and immersion, I find great joy in traversing untamed jungles, exploring off-the-beaten-path destinations, and engaging with local communities. I'm particularly drawn to sustainable living and eco-projects, as they align with my belief in preserving the natural beauty of our planet.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to music, I have a soft spot for old-school classics from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. The melodic tunes of those decades never fail to transport me to a different time. As for movies, I'm a self-proclaimed geek who revels in the magic of franchises like Star Wars, Back to the Future, Tron, and the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. And when it comes to books, I have a deep appreciation for the thrilling narratives crafted by John Katzenbach, especially his two most popular works, "The Analyst" and "The Shadow Man."

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One unforgettable adventure that still gives me an adrenaline rush is the five-hour hiking and rappelling expedition I embarked on in a hidden cave called Arch of Time (Arco del Tiempo) in Chiapas. The experience of exploring its depths and witnessing the mesmerizing rock formations left an indelible mark on my soul. Rest assured, I'm eagerly anticipating the opportunity to repeat this awe-inspiring journey in the future.

Teach, Learn, Share

In addition to my love for exploration, I'm also a Spanish teacher in my spare time. I thoroughly enjoy helping others learn the language and sharing insights into the nuances of the rich Hispanic culture. Moreover, I'm always eager to learn from the experiences and perspectives of fellow travelers, expanding my horizons and gaining a deeper understanding of the world around me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a guest, I bring with me a warm smile, a respectful demeanor, and a genuine desire to connect. Having worked in hostels and eco-projects, I understand the importance of maintaining a clean and tidy environment. I'm more than happy to lend a hand with household chores or contribute in any way that would make your life easier during my stay. Additionally, I love cooking and would be delighted to prepare a delicious meal, sharing the flavors of my homeland with you.
