Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To understand and participate peacefully with other cultures
ABOUT ME
Carolyn - I am currently spending most of my time designing curriculum for a middle school elective environmental science course. We are lucky enough to have a small operational greenhouse at our school so I have been putting in a lot of time there. I am a bit of an introvert and when not out and about, I love to curl up with a good teen angst movie.
Lindsey - I spend most of my time studying as a navel-gazing law student. Nevertheless, I have found some time to research "Rights of Nature Law" for the movement advocating for local governance as well as teaching "Street Law" in a high school. I like cooking with fresh vegetables, yoga, bike commuting and watching Carolyn watch birds.
PHILOSOPHY
We are trying to live our lives as sustainably as possible.
We believe in minimizing our ecological footprint and confronting systems of domination.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We are new to the CS Project and are excited to meet new people and find ways to participate.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have enjoyed watching a close friend host couch surfers and his passion for this experience has been very inspirational. Lindsey has had far more couch surfing experiences because he is much more outgoing than Carolyn.
Interests
Carolyn - As mentioned earlier, I am an avid birder. I was first inspired to gaze at birds while studying potential wolf habitat in Arizona/New Mexico. After a few months of expert tutelage, I was completely hooked. Although I could mention other interests, like mycology, this one is undoubtedly number one for me.
Lindsey - I like learning about other people and how we think about the world. This might be philosophical conversations, reading, or the casual conversation at a potluck. I also like forests.

Music, Movies, and Books
We collectively like documentaries and foreign films. Carolyn is working on her professional teaching certification so she reads a lot of education articles while Lindsey reads about Torts, Criminal Law and so forth. We both enjoy reading articles in The Nation and The Sun. In our spare time, Carolyn generally reads fiction while Lindsey reads non-fiction.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We shared an amazing experience with this crazy family on a very small island in Belize. Although they were "crazy" they were also generous and let us camp and eat as many coconuts as we wanted. Due to climate change, we are skeptical that coral reef communities will persist for much longer in the future and this makes us even more thankful for time spent watching sea turtles and sharks in a rich reef community.
