I'm a 31 year old Canadian / Australian. Born in Australia, grew up in Canada, then moved back to Australia 6 years ago. I've lived in Bondi for these 6 years, most of which were with my now-hubby who is also Canadian / Australian. We recently got married in Mexico and are now off on the adventure of a lifetime, travelling the world for a year.

We (Neil and myself) are pretty simple people. We work(ed) hard, play hard, and look to get the most out of life as we can.

When living in Sydney, we take advantage of the city's great weather and multicultural vibe, keep ourselves busy with sailing lessons, golf, spanish lessons, camping, salsa dancing classes, and meeting a ton of cool new people from around the world who have also flocked to this great city. We love to cook, enjoy catching up with mates down at the local watering holes, and can't get enough of exploring Sydney and its surroundings.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet new people, discover an alternative to sometimes crowded (but sometimes great!) hostels and to get a sense of local life in all of the wonderful places we visit.

Interests

Travelling, learning new languages (spanish... to a lesser extent portuguese!), cooking, hiking, downhill skiing, trying new sports, watching (ice) hockey, bar hopping, trying new foods, wine tours, more wine tours. Lots!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music varies by occasion.... old faithfuls are Neil Young, Van Morrison, Stones, Clapton, G&R etc. Our school day favs - Against me, Rise against, DMB, Silverchair, Frank Turner, Tragically hip. Moving to Australia has made us get into our electronic dance music, at the right time and in the right place. Love learning about local artists who are new to us.
Favourite books - Shantaram, A Short History of Nearly Everything (Bill Bryson). Right now we're reading a book on Bitcoin (because why not?) and Elon Musk's biography.

Teach (Neil) - how to ski race and how to excel model
Teach (Caro) - intro to piano, basic french, how to do your taxes if you're Canadian or Australian
Learn - we're both learning Spanish, although Neil is much more advanced than I!

A few good pescatarian meals (Caro) or some meat smoking tips if you have a meat smoker (Neil). Looking to share a laugh, lesser known Canadian and Australian artists, travel tips and stories.
