Hi, I'm Carolyn! I grew up in California and study in Wisconsin. Right now I'm spending a year abroad in Auckland, New Zealand. I'm an easy-going, low-maitanence 20-year-old.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love traveling, and I love that couchsurfing allows me to stay with locals and really get a non-touristy perspective of whatever place I'm in.

Interests

I'm an outdoorsy kinda person - I love hiking, riding bikes, playing frisbee, scuba diving and swimming. Pretty much anything that gets me outside. When I'm feeling mellower, I like to read, play guitar, and draw. I also enjoy cooking - I've been vegetarian for about 6 years and like trying new foods.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: East of Eden by John Steinbeck (it all takes place in California, so it reminds me of home), Harry Potter (duh), anything by Tom Robbins

Music: Anything folky/bluegrass (First Aid Kit, Avett Brothers, Head and the Heart, Mason Jennings), classic rock (ELO, CCR, Led Zeppelin, Talking Heads, Queen), and alternative rock (Cage the Elephant, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, The Shins)

Movies/TV: A few favorites are Juno, Wayne's World, Good Will Hunting. I HATE horror movies. For TV, I love the Office, Scrubs, Master of None, Friends, Gilmore Girls.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent a month in the south island of New Zealand with five friends, all in one small car! The month was filled with all the classic roadtrip shenanigans and mishaps - running out of gas on the side of the road, a wind storm snapping the poles of our tent, meeting cool people at campsites and hostels, and sharing lots of laughs.
