About Me
Hi, hello! I'm Carolyn.
Photographer, filmmaker and writer. Australian born, London based (for the moment).
I work fulltime freelance which means my life is always changing. One day I might be working at Facebook (true story) and the next I'm working on set for a TV show pilot. It's exhilarating, exhausting, but it's my dream. Eventually, I would like to be Sean O'Connell from The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Silly, but you get the idea.
I'm fascinated by people and different cultures - especially religion/philosophy/love traditions/different ways of living. I love good, thoughtful conversations (by candlelight, with wine is always better) and dancing around living rooms to jazz music.
If you host me you can expect me to dig deep into all the things that make you tick and to take a photograph of your face at some point. I'll probably ask you about your favourite coffee places, cafes/restaurants, and your city's best-kept secret. I love hanging out with my hosts (candlelit conversations, remember?), or keeping myself entertained - either way! You can also expect me to cook for you at some point. I hope you like nachos...
I'm really just here to keep living my dream life, meeting new people who are inspiring, and EAT ALL THE FOOD.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After some serious convincing, a friend who surfed for 2 years convinced me to join up. I have yet to actually crash on someone's couch from this site (will you be the first, who knows?!) but I'm very excited to see what all the fuss is about.
I'm a serial hostel traveller, and absolutely love getting to know people. As much as I love hostels, I'm also all about saving those dollar bills for more travel adventures and meeting people in more intimate settings. I host friends from all over the world at my flat in London regularly and know how personally rewarding it can be. Good conversations, wine-filled evenings, new experiences and ways of looking at things. I'm here for the adventure and everything that comes with it.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love non-fiction books. Lots of biographies or books about art! I'm generally travelling with a book in hand and love to pass it on to friends when I'm finished with it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Survived a month long road trip through both the North and South islands of New Zealand by myself. Also somehow managed to successfully hike an active volcano in the worst possible weather imaginable - and almost died in the process.
Also, I managed to pay a $100USD bar tab with just $0.23AUD in my account. Ask me how, if we ever meet.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Always willing to pass on my knowledge and/or passions to people who are interested. If you have some photographic/video work that needs doing, I'm more than happy to lend you my skills. Or if you have some questions, feel free to pick my brain. I'm also a terribly great cook (biased, but true) and I love dinner parties with lots of wine.
