Présentation
À propos de moi
I am an lifelong student, trying to discover how to live life meaningfully and find fulfillment.
Let's learn from each other :)
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
I really only got into traveling during college, and have learned so much from exploring new places and talking to different people. Through CS, I hope to travel not only cheaply, but also in an enriching, fulfilling way by meeting friends along the way. Even though we'll probably only see each other for a short while, we can still contribute to each other's lives. Even if we don't manage to stay in contact, we can rest assured that if we end up in the same city again some day, some how, we can find each other and meet up and catch up and enjoy each other's company again :)
I am taking a semester off from school to do physics research in Germany spring of 2016. I am planning on using the weekends to explore Europe via CS!
Centres d'intérêt
Running in pretty places, hiking the masterpieces of nature, writing random musings, figure skating, listening to podcasts (i.e. when I run), staring out of windows, making arts and crafts (i.e. origami stars, water color painting, scrapbooking), shopping (esp. finding treasures at second hand stores and flea markets and the like), going to high places and enjoying the view, reading (adventure such as Jon Krakaeur, (auto)biographical, science fiction, dystopian, psychological/sociology/self help such as Malcolm Gladwell, etc. etc.), praying (I'm Christian), listening to people talk about their lives, watching movies, chain-reading Wikipedia articles, traveling, physics (experimental condensed matter physics and astrophysics), playing music (piano, clarinet, trying to learn guitar), all things fluffy/soft/cute, watching SciShow/Vsauce/Numberphile on Youtube, etc. etc.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres
Music -- not very picky with music. I listen to instrumentalists (Piano Guys, Lindsey Stirling, The Vitamin String Quartet, Josh Vietti, etc. etc.) when I need to study/think. I listen to Christian music, both traditional and contemporary. I typically just listen to anything that is not too loud/crude on Pandora/Spotify and do not recall many particular artists or songs...
Movies -- WALL-E!! Most animated films (Disney, Pixar, Miyazaki), science (fiction) (Interstellar, Ender's Game, Gravity), memoir (Wild; Eat, Pray, Love), action/adventure (Divergent series, Hunger Games), etc. etc.
Books -- documentary (Into Thin Air, The Worst Journey in the World, Born to Run), sociology/psychology (Malcolm Gladwell), dystopian/sci-fi (The Plague, Brave New World, Flowers for Algernon), (auto)biographical
Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
Still in the process of collecting amazing memories...but recently I climbed Mount Fuji for the sunrise :) It was definitely not a unique experience since Mount Fuji is the most frequently climbed mountain in the world, but watching the steady stream of headlights heading for the top just as the sun was breaking through the clouds made me pause and smile!

"I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end." - Ecclesiastes 3:10-11
"The mathematical theory of black holes is a subject of immense complexity;
but its study has convinced me of the basic truth of the ancient mottoes,
The simple is the seal of the true
and
Beauty is the splendour of truth."
-Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar
"And now permit me to pass along one final thought in concluding my lecture.
My major theme has been that all of the heavy elements from carbon to
uranium have been synthesized in stars. Let me remind you that your bodies
consist for the most part of these heavy elements. Apart from hydrogen you are
65 percent oxygen and 18 percent carbon with smaller percentages of nitrogen,
sodium, magnesium, phosphorus, sulphur, chlorine, potassium, and traces of
still heavier elements. Thus it is possible to say that you and your neighbor and
I, each one of us and all of us, are truly and literally a little bit of stardust."
-William Fowler
