Current mission: To spend time with good people.

ABOUT ME

Born in Portland, OR. Moved to small town in Washington state. Went to University of Washington and did lots of math. Studied abroad in Nantes, France. Learned French. Learned the intricacies of 'les bises' and to keep an eye on my wallet while dancing the night away. Returned to the States. Realized that I had to come back. Came back. Stayed.

Now I live in Lille and teach English at the local math and science university. When I get the chance I like to hop over to Paris or up to Ireland or sideways to Belgium and Germany. I also recently visited home and learned how to ride my bike with no hands.

BEcause every time I meet someone from a new place I learn something.

-having intellectual conversations but also conversations about which animal would be the last to survive if all-out animal warfare broke out across the entire planet
-reading nonfiction but also reading the entire Calvin & Hobbes collection in three days
-meeting people from around the world and hearing their stories
-learning languages
-dancing: all forms, all times
-biking & hiking & striking up conversations with strangers
-train rides

-attempting to understand economic theory
-hanging out with people who understand economic theory
-roaming through art museums and across city streets but only after I've looked both ways
-thinking of "clever" interests to put in online profiles
