About Me
CURRENT MISSION
The world is such a beautiful place filled with awesome people, I just want to see as much of it as possible!
ABOUT ME
I grew up in Florida and Virginia and then lived in Georgia, where I got my Master's Degree in marine science.
I am now living onboard a sailboat sailing around the world teaching marine biology and oceanography to university students as well as working as the operational director onboard for the program Seamster.
I love the ocean, beach, surfing on a longboard or SUP, being outside, warm weather, traveling, good food, fitness/yoga, and dancing. I don't smoke, don't drink too much, and tend to spend my energy during the day exploring as opposed to at night partying. I love nature and getting away into places that most other people aren't. I really enjoy meeting new people, especially those with a different background from mine, and just hanging out and talking!
PHILOSOPHY
The harder I work, the luckier I get.
Nothing great was achieved without enthusiasm.
If you love life, life will love you back.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I surfed a few times on trips in Europe and Indonesia, and I have hosted a few when I had an actual apartment. Now that I am living on the boat I love to use CS as a way to meet local people and get ideas for trips with our students, and also once in a while I get to escape to do some solo traveling and I love to stay with or meet up with locals and other travelers wherever I am.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The more I travel the less I care about going to see this or that, I just want to really experience wherever I am and get to know the local culture and people. I love CS because it allows you to get outside of the tourist areas and see a different part of a country than you normally would, and also gives you an instant friend that you get to talk with and you learn so much about wherever you are from them.
Interests
Marine biology, especially marine mammal research. Science in general. Outdoor activities - especially surfing, stand up paddle boarding, and hiking, but also biking, kayaking, sailing, or just walking around. Dance. Teaching and taking fitness classes. Learning to cook new types of food. Traveling and learning about different cultures.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: reggae, chill beachy music, and anything with a good beat that you can dance to. Favorite artists to listen to: Jack Johnson, Bobby Alu, Bob Marley, Hilltop Hoods, Old Man Canyon.
Movies: Don't really watch many, and I probably haven't seen it if it isn't animated. My favorite is definitely Surfs Up.
Books: mostly travel and science - two of my favorites are Indonesia, Etc The Story of an Improbably Nation and The Wave
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Diving the Great Barrier Reef. Catching a 1,600 pound manatee to tag it. Being in the middle of the open ocean and not seeing land for weeks. Recent addition: Circumnavigating the world on a sailboat :)
Teach, Learn, Share
Can give you a dance/fitness lesson or teach you about marine biology and oceanography.
Up for learning anything, would love to learn more about the cultures of where I visit. I enjoy exploring the outdoors with people I visit, hiking or visiting mountains or the beach.
