ABOUT ME

I'm 60 something and have two grown-up children who no longer live with me. I stay up late, get up early, go out with pals and generally enjoy myself. I love travelling and have persevered in trying to learn Spanish. When I fancy doing something I do it. One of my hobbies is singing classes and although I'm not ever going to headline Glastonbury, I enjoy it so there's no more to say about the subject.
I use a powered wheelchair so my travels to Peru, Cuba and Syria were interesting - but it didn't stop me getting around Macchu Pichu!

PHILOSOPHY

I am a socialist and athiest, often with strong views, but that's just me. I aim to enjoy myself as much as possible before I die and I'm doing a pretty good job of that so far! I like to have others around and I tend to deal with other peoples' crises (my crises I just sort out myself!). I'm told I'm quite calm and laid back unless faced with injustice to others.

I've hosted but not yet been successful in finding a couch for myself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love hosting and all my experiences so far have been great; predominantly young people who have an interest in people, life and travel. I do work and do lots of things after work so sometimes I drag CSers out too!

Quite a wide range including punk, reggae, indie and some classical. I prefer watching live music, especially at outdoor festivals. I especially like WOMAD and have attended Glastonbury on several occasions - highlights include David Bowie, Skunk Anansie, Jarvis, The Specials and Belle and Sebastian.

I don't get much time to read other than for work but favourites include the Dark Materials (Philip Pullman), anything by Emile Zola, Isabelle Allende, Iain Banks (not Iain M) and Alexander McCall Smith.

Good Films: West Side Story, Romeo and Juliet, Volver, 1900, 8 Women, Star Wars, some James Bond (only Sean and Piers)

Seen: Blue Mountains (Australia), Macchu Picchu (Peru) the grand Souks of Aleppo (Syria) before they were ruined by war.
