About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel around the world, to meet diffrent kind of people, to enjoy wonderful moments of life and beautiful landscape.
Get to know other culture, food, way of living and thinking........ :)

ABOUT ME

My name is Caroline and I am 22 years old. After I finished my apprenticeship and my A-leve in school I was living my biggest dream:
travel around the world for 2 years.
I started in Europe, went to the USA, Canada, Bolivia and Peru. In Canada and the USA I was couch surfing most of the time and met great people and shared unforgetable moments with them.
In Peru I worked for a small organic chocolate coffee shop creating sweets/cakes/desserts which are made of chocolate. It was quite an advantoure with no scales and an oven where the temprature indication dosen' t work at all.... I really liked this challenge :)
I traveld to Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. There it wasn't that easy for me and my friend to find a host to stay with (due to the gouvernement CS is kind of forbidden in Vietnam) but we met a few CS who showed us around and told us a lot about their country.
One of my stop overs which I had was in South Korea to meet a CS. I got to know her in Nuremberg and spend a really nice day with her showing her around. The same happend in Korea when we met each other again one year later :)
In New Zealand it was almost impossible to find a host because only a few people are living there but so many traveller travel around NZ.
On Waiheke Island I worked for a small family catering business. Afterwards I traveld with two friends, a car and a tend around the North Island.
For 2 months I worked as a Nanny and teacher in Leigh.... (up north Auckland) took care of the kids, teached them how to play the piano, how to cook , to speak German and more.... the family gave me food, accommodation for free and introduced me to a lot of lovely friends of them.
They also give me some contacts of friends of them who are living in diffrent parts of NZ. .. so I even couchsurfed some times.
The last two months I traveld with my cousin and a small, old, simple but very comfortable Van around both Islands.
We took a lot of hitch hikers with us.... we are still in contact with most of them.
During the 2 last summers I was working in a beergarden in Nuremberg to earn enough money for all my trips... but even this time was very enjoyable :)
My two years of travelling and working around the world came to an end this year. Actually I wanted to start University but I didn't feel ready for it. I decided to move to France and do a year of volunteering. At the moment I am working in a community for young adults with a handicap.
During my holidays I am travelling around France .... but my next destination is Irland :)
After my time of volunteering I am going to study psychology and philosophy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I collect cs experiences while travelling around and hosting travelers in Nuremberg. Most of the experiences were very good. I am still friends with the Cs who visited me in Nuremberg. I even visit one of them in South Korea :)

One of the best and unexpected CS experiences I have made so far was in Thailand....
My friend and I were stranded on a very small Island with no cars, just beaches and a few simple bungalows. We decided to rent a small bungalow. We got to know a russian girl who was staying in one of the other bungalows.... from the very first moment on we got along quite well...she took us with her to an unknown beach (only locals can find it)
We were telling her about all our trips and couchsurfing experinces.... there she started laughing and was telling us that the owner of the few bungalows is a italien guy who she got to know when she was couchsurfing at his place in Italy. On our last evening there she arranged it that the italian owner, she, my friend and I cooked together, had dinner, listened to music.... swam in the sea ( so far it was possible to swim...there was low tide :D )
The next morning when we wanted to pay for the nights we stayed in the bungalow they revealed us that they want us to be the first couch surfers at this place.......

In my freetime I like meeting my friends, playing Badminton/Tabletennis, listening to music, learning new langues, playing the piano and the guitare, reading books...... I am also enjoy dancing.

Music, Movies, and Books

There are so many movies and books which I like but I prefer thriller, books which are autobiographical or lovestorries. I´m listening to a lot of music but I don't really enjoy hardrock or metal :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

to live my life and to enjoy (almost) every day of it ..... to learn from the past and to looking forward what the future will bring (without fear but with cheerfull curiosity)

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach German, how to cook lovely meals, how to play the piano (guitare) , how to dance your name ;) ....... I can share a lot of interessting stories which I collect during my time of travelling. .. and are keen to listen to some other ones.

Countries I’ve Lived In

France, New Zealand, Scotland
