About Me

I am Cuban, born in Havana. I studied electrical engineering in Cuba, and in Spain (Seville) I did a master's degree in my profession which opened the doors to employment in Spain. I currently live in Seville with my wife and mother-in-law. Our way of having fun is to travel to meet new people and places. Learn about its people, music, religion, architecture and culture in general. To know experiences and points of view of others and take away a lot of happy and fun moments

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I find a bit boring the format of experience that traveling and renting through the classic applications that we have available and that constantly raise the price of their services. Sacrificing comfort in exchange for socializing, making friends and saving is part of my philosophy of life. I also feel that it is a great way to delve into the essence of the city that you are getting to know, and not to exploit the classic way of sightseeing.
Whenever someone tells me that they would like to go to Cuba, my recommendations are to go to the center of the city, and look for the real places of Havana, "the real Havana", and not, the typical "Bodeguita del medio" that tourist agencies sell. Spectacular sites, which only a native will be able to know.

Music, Movies, and Books

Salsa and bachata dancer, although it's just music for dancing. The poetry of the trova, the passion of rock and roll, the sensuality of jazz and the justice requested by rap are some of the genres that attract me the most.
Films: Tarantino, Emir Kusturica, Yorgos Lanthimos, Stanley Kubrick among others...
Books: García Márquez, Milán Kundera, Hermann Hesse,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Before making my first trip outside of Cuba, I dedicated myself to touring my country from end to end. As a backpacker I went to Topes de Coyantes, Pinar del Río and the Sierra Maestra, which are mountainous places with humid vegetation where caves, rivers and native flora abound.
I also did a lot of city tourism to get to know the centers of each province. Without a doubt, a beautiful country.
My first trip was to Panama, I learned about its history, museums and visited the canal. In the last few months I've been touring Europe with my partner, Evelyn. We were in Spain, Madrid as a great cosmopolitan center welcomed us and captivated us with its intense and multicultural nightlife.
Another country we visited was Greece, where we had a wonderful experience since our means of transport was a catamaran and that allowed us to move around different islands such as Leros and Kos. On a motorbike around Kalimnos Island we were able to tour its valleys and share with locals and tourists.
Rome has been another of the great experiences for the history and beauty of its city, the art that radiates everywhere and the imposing and dazzling of its churches.
