Hi, I’m a retired teacher with a lifelong love of history and social studies, which has naturally led me to stay involved in my community through volunteering and cultural projects.

While living in Florida, I founded and ran Hope Street Patio, a small community venue dedicated to supporting the arts, hosting house concerts, and bringing people together through live music. Creating spaces where people could connect, share stories, and enjoy creativity has always been important to me.

We travel as a married couple; both profiles are active and visible. Now that we’re retired, we travel full-time, exploring new places thoughtfully and at a relaxed pace. We enjoy learning from locals, appreciating everyday life in different communities, and being respectful, low-key guests wherever we go.

We began our travels from our home in Tarpon Springs, a small Greek fishing village community in Florida, and since then, we’ve journeyed all over the United States in our RV. Now we’re taking our travels international, with plans to spend a significant part of the coming year in Australia and New Zealand. Our daughter is currently living in Western Australia, which has made this chapter especially meaningful for us.

We consider ourselves senior nomads who genuinely enjoy meeting like-minded people, sharing stories, and building real connections along the way. We love making new friends, staying curious, and volunteering whenever possible.

We are both yoga instructors and enthusiastic supporters of live music. Over the past few years, we’ve grown to appreciate this lifestyle more deeply, finding great fulfillment in immersing ourselves in local culture and everyday life. The diversity of people and places we’ve encountered through travel has taught us a great deal about ourselves, and that sense of shared humanity is what draws us to Couchsurfing.

We travel as a married couple; both profiles are active and visible, and we enjoy sharing skills and experiences when it feels like including us naturally fits into a host’s household and interests.

We’re happy to share what we’ve learned about hosting house concerts and creating listening-room experiences. Our former venue, Hope Street Patio, was awarded Host of the Year in 2016, and we enjoy helping others explore how to build community around live music. We also have connections with live-music volunteer opportunities in the U.S. and are always happy to pass along information. One recent volunteer experience we’ve enjoyed was at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, and we’d be glad to share insights about that and similar opportunities.

We’re also both yoga instructors and are happy to introduce hosts to yoga or offer private or semi-private sessions if there’s interest. We’re physically fit, active, and comfortable helping with everyday household tasks when appropriate.

In addition, we are verified house and pet sitters and are comfortable caring for animals of all kinds — from cats and dogs to more unique companions — when helpful.

Above all, we value clear communication, mutual comfort, and respectful boundaries, and we enjoy contributing in ways that feel genuinely useful and welcome.
