Overview
About Me
I have always wanted to travel the world and would probably never come home if I didn't have to. I love music, food, exploring, rock climbing, learning, and meeting new people! I've taken French in school for five years (I'm still not very good at it) and self-taught a little bit of Russian. I'm trying to learn Spanish as well. I'm a quiet person but I also know how to have fun. I'm always up for a good conversation about nearly anything!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
This year, after my friend and I graduate, we are taking a gap year to backpack South America! I think couchsurfing is a great way to get to know the people and the place I'm in. Exploring a place as the locals do is the best way to travel!
Interests
I have many many interests! I love being outdoors hiking, camping, kayaking, or doing any other fun activity! I also love music and listening to musicians. I hope to learn the Cuatro before I leave South America! I'm always up for a philosophical conversation over a glass of wine, some good music, or while cooking a delicious meal! I also practice buddhist meditation and love talking about meditation practices, Zen teachings, and spirituality.

Music, Movies, and Books
One of my favorite movies is definitely Fight Club. I'm a Beatles fan so Across the Universe is up there too. I'm into the indie-folk scene, but can appreciate most musical genres. Really anything with a good beat I can get into! I love reading philosophical books and books that make me question everything. Zen in the Art of Archery, Candide, and The Little Prince are some of my favorite books. David Foster Wallace was an amazing writer as well. If someone recommends me a book I'm all for trying it out!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was in Cusco for over a month and I had the opportunity to do a trek to Machu Picchu! I've also seen Paul McCartney in concert (which I think is cooler than Machu Picchu).
Teach, Learn, Share
I hope to do a lot of learning while in South America. I want to learn Spanish, learn about different cultures, and learn about myself as a person. I enjoy cooking so I'd love to cook a few meals, and I love exchanging stories and experiences with others.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'd love to do some cooking, both from the country I'm in as well cooking some "traditional" American food. I can help around the house, share stories and experiences, and my culture!
