Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

To eat as many delicious things in as many places as time, digestion, and $ will allow :)

ABOUT ME

Back in the South of France working as a teaching assistant in Nîmes, with lots of time for travel--it's a beautiful thing. I'm 23, from DC, and I just want to go everywhere, really.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is too short not to take chances. And by take chances, I mean make random friends, stay up too late, and eat all the dessert you can get your hands on. Also, approach all dogs on the street and try to hug them, even though they may attack you. Known to lead the impromptu bar crawl. Will dance anywhere. Love corgis.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have tons of places that I can't wait to visit, and hopefully CS will help make it happen for me eventually.... I am also preparing for a 2 or 3-month backpacking trip sometime this year, so I will definitely be relying on surfers! I have lived in DC all my life, so I am armed with recommendations for the city's sights and secrets. I am especially reliable for info on the food & bar scene !!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have done as much Couchsurfing as possible in the last few years, though unfortunately (due to moves and roommates) I have not been able to host as much as I'd like.
All my experiences have been very positive. In the US, I've surfed in NYC and Nashville, and I've hosted a pair of super fun Germans :)
Abroad, I've couchsurfed in France, Hungary, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Spain, and Belgium. It's really helped me see more places, more authentically. Most importantly, I have made lasting friendships, which means so much.

Intereses

I used to bake every single day, though I have recently gotten into savory stuff as well. This year, my house in Nîmes has a beautiful kitchen, so I am hoping to make some great French dishes. Despite being addicted to sugar, I am a gym rat and a runner. One of my favorite things to do in a new city is plot out runs that pass by various sights I would like to see (bakeries included). While living in Paris, my weekend route was 6 miles straight to a bakery; I always thought my croissant was well deserved. I also love racing and have done countless 5ks, 8ks, 10ks, and five half marathons, though I am hoping to run a full marathon this year (and I am terrified at the prospect).

Música, películas y libros

Movies: UP, Clueless, She's the Man, Domestic Disturbance, Dark Knight, Kickass, American Beauty, Django Unchained, Crazy Stupid Love

Music: Anything and everything. If there's a beat, I WILL dance. Lately, house.

Books: 11.22.63, The Time Traveler's Wife, Water for Elephants, Harry Potter (it is literature, and don't try to tell me otherwise!). But truthfully I will read anything I can get my hands on. Lately, it's Stephen King, 24/7. Seriously. Have plowed through: 11.22.63, Lisey's Story, Misery, Mr. Mercedes, Under the Dome, Thinner, Different Seasons, Hearts in Atlantis, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, Revival, Carrie, Doctor Sleep, Duma key, Finders Keepers, The Green Mile, The Stand (my first corgi will be named Kojak) ...and The Shining is on my nightstand but I am too scared to read it.

Algo increíble que he hecho

1. My first Michigan football game freshman year was mind-boggling in the sheer size of the crowd, the stadium, the enthusiasm--everything. GO BLUE!
2. Finishing my first half marathon. And every race afterwards--nothing quite like it. Plus, free bananas and bagels at the end feel so well-deserved :)
3. Seeing the Eiffel Tower light up at night, as my friends and I popped bottles of champagne. So, so beautiful.
