ABOUT ME

I've been described as fun, funny, cheerful, creative, smart, silly, mature, childish, and weird. I enjoy making things: cloths, soap, a MAME cabinet, RepRap printer, android applications. Apprentice to many skills, master of few. I enjoy natural sciences, gardening, cartoons and board games.

PHILOSOPHY

Our social structure and language are the most unique things about us. I think its important to focus on those things as we move through our lives: establishing social connections and maximizing communication with all people.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am looking to surf with other people as I tour the country this summer, eventually surf in other countries. I would love to offer my couch to others but have limited space at this time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I did not use this organization at the time, but about 8 years ago I got laid off from a job. I owned a house in a little town about an hour and a half from the college I began attending. I couldn't afford to rent a place AND pay a mortgage and I wanted out, but to maximize my profits, I had to remodel the house. So, during the week I couch surfed with friends (or camped in my car) rotating who 'had custody' of me each week to spread the love (and burden). On the weekends, I went to my house where I added on a new laundry room and bathroom and removed the old bath closet to create a dining room. For much of that, I didn't have water in the house so had to 'shower' surf at friends houses around there! The place I liked the best was the walled off back of the basement/garage that was the laundry room. When it got cold in the winter, I could run the dryer to take off the chill!

Intereses

Native Oregon plants, sewing, ribbon flowers, painting, enameling, inventing, making movies, writing, watching movies, reading, woodworking, education, speech/language treatment and theory, android applications, swinging, building sand castles, hide-and-seek, catch, ending day-light savings time in Oregon.
