About Me

I made this profile in 2009 and never really used it, I updated it a bit last year.
Please excuse my profile and all the outdated pictures. I will do my best to get it up to date.

I grew up in Maine, a place very dear to me but as soon as I turned 18 was ready to fully give in to the travel bug that had been gnawing at me.
At 18 I spent a summer living with punks in Germany in a punkhouse in Bremen. Then moved to Canada for 2 years. I have hitchhiked over 5,000 miles around the United States. More recently I spent almost a year living and bartending in Guatemala.

From growing up in Maine I love nature and have spent a lot of time working on farms and in gardens. The past few years though I have really grown to appreciate cities as well and surprised myself when I moved to Vegas on a whim and decided to stay for over a year.

Currently (Oct 2016) I headed home to Maine to do some seasonal work on an apple orchard and say goodbye to my friends and family. I am leaving in a few weeks to start my yearlong working holiday visa in New Zealand! I'm going with my best best friend I've known since I was 5 and we are doing a couple weeks in Europe first.
We are so excited to be meeting up in Barcelona!! :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm workin on it!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Most of the couch-surfing I have done over the years has been impromptu and has been from meeting people in real life. Having said that I think this site is a wonderful resource and I hope to utilize it more in the future. I will definitely make a couch available for whoever once I get my own place!

Interests

I am a naturally curious person and am interested in whatever it is you want to tell me!
My personal interests and things I devote much of my time thinking/reading about would include history, archaeology, natural pursuits (hiking, camping, mushroom picking...), traveling......I love going to museums and and I have a genuine interest in meeting new people and hearing about their experiences.

I just started drawing and painting this past May (2015) and am very interested in continuing to improve and create art and am *definitely* interested in meeting people that spend their time also creating art, regardless of the chosen medium!

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy reading non-fiction books and often have a few books going on at once.

I love lots of different types of music. From old motown to funk to 70s Thai Pop to punk, even some techno/electronic....anything you throw at me I'll probably find groovy.
The thing I miss most while traveling is my record player. I had a huge record collection back in Maine.
When I'm alone I usually am listening to jug bands or New Olreans jazz from the 1920s or anything from Kathleen Hanna.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hopped a freight train from Tennessee to Alabama in a tornado.

Teach, Learn, Share

Durante muchos meses he estado aprendiendo español . Me encantaría quedarme con un hablante nativo para practicar mas!
...and in turn I can help anyone with their English if needed.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am currently traveling with a small watercolor set and some nice faber-castell pens and colored pencils. It would be fun to have a host interested in making some art. I am still new at it!

Also I'm not a chef or anything but there are a few different dishes I could whip up if you are interested....Hopefully you aren't picky :D
