I am 19 years old, currently doing a gap year in Berlin, Germany. I am a student at University of Wisconsin-Madison in the Mechanical Engineering program. I absolutely love cycling, camping, exploring new cities, traveling, meeting new people and telling stories. My last job was as a server, so i am very comfortable talking to new people, and love listening to other peoples stories. One day i plan on going on a cross country/continent bike trip where i will camp and meet a bunch of new people, and am always looking for people to join me!

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

There are so many people in this world, and by staying in a hotel or in a hostel, you aren't necessarily doing anything to meet some of those people. I am on couchsurfing because i want to meet new people and have new friends in different countries and states. Being a foreign exchange student, I have currently lived with 3 different families in Germany (my first family was in 2013 for 3 weeks, my second was in 2015 for a 3 week speaking course, and my last is my current host family), and over that time i have learned so much from them that i wanted to extend my family to a bunch of new people :) so that is my reason for joining couch surfing, to meet new people and extend my sphere of friends and family.

Intereses

I enjoy cycling really long distances, i have participated in a half-ironman (1 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run), i am incredibly interested in how the world functions (which is why i took an interest in mechanical engineering), camping is my "second home", i am always exploring my surroundings with the philosophy there will always be something new to see, my favorite animal is a dog. I am also learning German for the entire year, so Germany has also become a pretty strong interest in my life. I am also interesting in trying and cooking new foods, traveling to Japan has definitely tested this interest, but i never regretted anything.

Música, películas y libros

As far as music goes, i am quite open, but when i want to relax and chill, i listen to The Beatles, The Zombies, The Doors, The Monkees, etc. (pretty much all oldies)
As far as my favorite movies, I am interested in literally anything. Growing up watching movies, i have watched a lot of strange and obscure movies, so i am not frightened by the strange. The only movies i don't really like are scary movies, unless its with a large group of friends.

Algo increíble que he hecho

As i have mentioned before, I am currently doing this exchange year to Berlin, Germany. What this whole thing entitles is I live with a host family, study in school, and learn as much of the German language and culture is possible. But what sparked my interest in traveling and cultural studies is when i traveled to Japan in 2011, for 2 weeks. I was able to do and see so much of a brand new culture and language that i couldn't stop myself from seeing more of the world.

I love sharing with people how i see the world. Furthermore, i love hearing from people things i have to experience in my life. With these exchanges, the world continually becomes more and more interesting and only aids me in my quest to learn as much about the world as possible.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

My zeal for life. Im not sure if it is cliché to say that I have a different way of looking at things, but i love communicating with people and sharing my opinions on different matters (especially the vastness of space). With the German culture, i have learned that a beer with a friend will allow an everlasting friendship to form.
