ABOUT ME

Hi there,

sociable and casual German guy here who likes to travel and to meet new and interesting people...

Looking forward to meeting you :)

PHILOSOPHY

"Augenmaß ist alles. Wichtiges wichtig nehmen. Unwichtiges unwichtig - das ist Lebenskunst“. (Translation: "The sense of proportion is everything. To take important things seriously. Unimportant things less seriously - that's the art of living.")
This sentence of my great-great uncle Ewald Balser has been accompanying me for quite a long time now and makes life a bit easier ;-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

"One hand washes the other" - this proverb properly reflects the brilliant principle of courchsurfing.com. I'm glad to be offered some couches and to offer my own sofa/bed in return.
On top of that it's a great way to get to know new interesting, lovely and maybe inspiring people! :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I could share plenty of great moments with many people so far in my life. One particular situation that really impressed me was on my very first day at the University in Palermo (Sicily), where I spent my semester abroad. I just entered the lecture hall, when almost all Italian students already waiting for the professor came to learn more about me. I even got an invitation for eating pasta at my colleague's home after having talked only a few sentences! This pasta with my new colleagues that immediately became good friends was a great start of my time abroad (and quite delicious by the way ;) ).

I can't remember to have ever been faced with such amount of openness before.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach/share:

- German :D
- my travel experience in Southeast Asia
- my experience of living in Sicily (the most wonderful island in the world)
- playing violin or cello ;-)
- medical stuff
