About Me

I'm an anthropologist, so I travel a lot because of work and research. I'm a bad tourist, as I am not really used to traveling without a task or a purpose. when traveling I love to get to know people, but also just to walk around a new place for days and wonder what stories hide behind all I see. I like the woods and the mountains, sleeping in outside. not too acquainted with bears yet. In Europe I'm used to, um, rabbits and boars. that's what we have in dangerous wildlife. scary rabbits.
I love sitting around and looking at the water, salty water preferably. I also sail. but I don't have a boat.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had been on couchsurfing, but then my membership expired when I didn't use it for a long time. I have been staying with people during field research, but those were not fields where considering was possible. can tell you more when we meet.

Music, Movies, and Books

right now I'm a lot into classical music, 19th century stuff. I'd be glad if someone explained me what Copland is all about.
I love weird movies with weird characters and stories, I adore the Austrian actor Josef Bader, saw a good one of his recently.
for some reason, German authors with Hungarian background are really intriguing, check out terézia mora or zsuzsa bánk.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived for a month in a village in northern Benin as a part of my research. I had the contact through a friend and the people accepted me instantly, I had no privacy, people running into my room without a door all the time, and it didn't mind me at all. It was the fact that I was totally accepted among them, not getting anything special, that made me feel so comfortable. that was cool.

running into Edmund Stoiber in new york city was weird. sorry if you know what I'm talking about.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach as a job, so I guess I should rather not teach when traveling. I think it's always great when people open up, thats what I have to offer. I'll tell my story and listen to yours. if you want.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook. I'm good with kids. but, don't give me responsibility over your dog, I love dogs, but I can't educate them, with me they can do whatever they want. that's cool for the dogs, and uncool for the owners.
