About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Exploring the very large area included in North America
ABOUT ME
I like to think I am easygoing. I grew up in the small mountain town of Brevard, North Carolina. Although I enjoy visiting cities I am not a city person at all. I like long walks on the beach and enjoyable conversation.
PHILOSOPHY
Why wait? If you have things you want to do, places you want to go, there is no reason to let it sit on the back burner. The world won't wait on you.
Enjoy life, enjoy nature, don't take it for granted and don't abuse it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Someday when I have a place I will certainly open up my couch but in the meantime...
I am currently on a whirlwind tour of the US with part of my band, The Mason Jar Drinkers. Our goal is to get to know the country as well as possible by couch surfing, playing on street corners, climbing rocks and mountains, surfing, paddling rivers and everything in between.
I have met a lot of people who are skeptical about this network and the way it works which I think is silly. I want to participate in building a positive community and work to re-establish faith in the modern american society.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Stayed with some pretty awesome people around the country, couch surfing is a pretty cool thing for sure.
While traveling through Portland, myself and two other members of my band stayed with some girls just outside of town. We had a real good time, all hung out downtown some, went climbing with one of them. We were all pretty tight after a few days. I believe a few of them are planning a trip to North Carolina to visit at some point in the future. It was like making instant friends...pretty cool.
Interests
I thoroughly enjoy the outdoors, particularly climbing, paddling, backpacking, surfing, etc. I also love music. I play in an old-time string band but try not to limit myself to any one style of music as there is a lot out there. I like to crochet (can't make much more than hats, but it's a good time). Cooking's a good time. And of course just travelling and getting to know cool people along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books
Anything by John Krakauer, Let My People Go Surfing by Yvonne Chiounard, any first hand account of expedition stories. As far as movies go...Elf, Nacho Libre, The King of California, Out Cold...just to name a few. Music, I am in love with Old Time, Jug Band, Early Jazz, Ragtime and the like, but enjoy anything that sounds good to my ears.
Teach, Learn, Share
You can learn a lot about a person simply by the books he or she has displayed on their coffee table.
