About Me

CURRENT MISSION

About a year ago we finished a 16 month trip around the world where we had many amazing couchsurfing experiences! We're now back in the States and have settled down in Fresno (for now at least!) We're a bit busy with our happy, smily son (born in 2016), but may be able to host or meet up. Send us a note!

ABOUT ME

Caryl says: i'm creative. i'm adventurous. i think the best ways to get around are bicycling and walking. i'm searching. i'm cheap. i thirst for knowledge. i'm pretty smart, maybe even nerdy.
i'm a good, honest, hard-working hedonist. i like cats over dogs. i'll kick your ass at super mario kart and maybe street fighter ii. I mean what i say. i am what i am. i do what i want.

Ania says: I've spent a lot of time in life learning about people and how to help, most recently through my work as a prison psychologist. I enjoy what I do very much, and feel fortunate to be able to do the work I do. Caryl helps me see that, sometimes, there's much more to life than books and responsibilities!

PHILOSOPHY

i live my life according to platinum rule (which trumps the golden rule): treat others as *they* wish to be treated. it causes you to look inside a person and empathise with them. instead of just imposing your ideals on them, you have to understand them.

i have no religion, i'm an apatheist (i don't really care about religion) maybe aliens created us? morals i do have. While traveling in fiji and new zealand, i've settled into a very nice vibe: warm, friendly, honest, true, complimentative, talkitive, inquisitive person. i put my faith in karma - if you're a good person good things will happen and vice versa - life has been a dream.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, i met 'the rachel' in invercargill, nz and she convinced me to give this community a try. i'm a computer geek, perhaps i'll be able to assist the web masters. i've taken a personal creed: to only use my powers for good. and i'd say this is it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Caryl: My first official couch surfing experience was in Frankfurt with Susanne and in Brussels with Loïc In 2006. Tons of off-site couchsurfing: hitching through new zealand for a month and a half, i lucked into a couple of free nights in rotorua and hokitika, 'saved' from a wet tent on a cold night by some nice australians, 9 nights with François in Paris after randomly running into the guy 4 times in the world (fiji, twice in thailand, and kashmir).

After that trip i resettled in Washington DC and hosted when i could. there i met Ania and convinced her (was very easy) to travel again and even try couch surfing. we need to be more social - traveling so long without good friend is taking its toll on us!

Interests

Caryl: engineering, art, and combinations of the two. photography, travel, and combinations of the two.

Ania: cats, animals, photography, scrapbooking, painting. Now, all things baby! :)
