CURRENT MISSION
To continue to get to know the world and its people better.
ABOUT ME
I'm a native of northern California who became something of a New Yorker after living there for 12 years. A couple years ago I moved to Portland, Oregon, to be closer to family, which has been lovely, but I'm putting on my traveling shoes again with the aim of exploring some cities and regions I've never seen before. Back in 2010, I took a short six-week bike tour around the northeast, which is when I discovered CouchSurfing and had fantastic experiences. I loved staying with locals and would love to do the same on this trip. I'm a good guy, personable, very respectful, and I love to talk about my travels and hear stories from others. (I also have this annoying tendency to be somewhat spontaneous with my travels, so apologies in advance for contacting you at the last minute!)
PHILOSOPHY
Years ago, I was traveling in New Zealand and saw a Maori inscription written on a wall in Christchurch. It said "He aha te mea nui, he tangata he tangata he tangata." Which meant, "What is the most important thing in life? The people, the people, the people." That about summed it up for me.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I met some amazing CS hosts on a six-week, 1,200 mile bike tour around the northeast. I've been living with housemates for way too long, so hosting hasn't been possible, but when I'm living a more autonomous life, I promise to give my couch to some of you!
Interessi
I'm an artsy guy, have done theater and radio and visual arts, and right now I'm focusing on traveling and writing. I love history and the eclectic/eccentric and am an avid museum-goer and bicyclist. When I'm in a new city I'm interested in getting to know, I'll wander neighborhoods, look at buildings, try to find a good design shop or two as well as the best place to get breakfast (I love a good local diner!), see as many museums of all different sorts as I can (the smaller and stranger the better), and check out local theater. Of course, I'm always happy to spend time with my hosts, if possible, and I'm always open to suggestions of things to do!

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
I've been lucky enough to see a good part of the world. I've lived in Europe a couple times, seen the moon rise orange over the Pacific in New Zealand, road-tripped in Australia, hiked in the rainforests of Madagascar and seen the lemurs, camel safari'ed in India, and ridden my bike in a crazy loop from NYC to Boston.
