About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make friends :)

ABOUT ME

I'm a student at St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, MN studying computer engineering. Just finished a road trip across the west, couchsurfing without the aid of couchsurfing.org - so hopefully next time it's a little bit easier :)

Currently studying abroad in Chile, so any Chilean hosts want some guests, I'm looking to travel :)

PHILOSOPHY

I have never experienced satisfaction on a level that learning a new language has provided for me.

"Drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind but falling in love and not getting arrested." - Hunter S. Thompson

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm a host and a surfer. Right now, only a surfer, as I'm abroad.

Interests

I love outdoor sports, my favorites being snowboarding, climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, and camping/hiking. I really want to try climbing mountains, possibly attempting Aconcagua since I'm here in Chile and have the opportunity of a lifetime to do it.

I'm a linguistics student, and I speak English and Spanish and some (but very little) German. I'm very interested in learning French, German, and Arabic, and plan on continuing to learn new languages throughout my life.

And meeting new people! I want to meet and learn to communicate with people from all parts of the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Local music, from MN or where ever I am at the time, especially bands like Trampled By Turtles, Spirit Family Reunion, Cloud Cult, blah blah blah. Music is one of them most important things in my life (I graduated a college in recording music), and I could go on for days.

Also literature - huge fan of Hemingway, Kerouac, Thompson. They are my favorites, but I read a lot of McCarthy too. Have been reading Walt Whitman, aloud, which is weird but I kind of like it, enjoy reading Pablo Neruda, and Charles Bukowski. I'm sort of a bookworm I guess - a lot of my evenings are spent drinking and getting extra enthusiastic about the books my friends and I love and making grand plans for trips across the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Coolest thing I've done recently is drive 5,500 miles all over the west. I left from Minneapolis, MN, and here's a list of the places I stopped, sometimes for a few days, sometimes just for a night, mostly sleeping on floors and beds and couches with a couple hotels thrown in there. Oh and one awesome night in the Jeep watching Casino Royale on the dashboard with the audio going through the Jeep's system. Fun stuff, heres the list:

Rapid City, SD
Steamboat Springs, CO
Park City, UT
Las Vegas, NV
Los Angeles, CA
Big Sur/Monterey, CA
San Francisco, CA
Portland/Oregon City, OR
Seattle, WA
Missoula, MT
Rapid City, SD
Sioux Falls, SD

Then back home. Have a lot of good stories about every place and it was an amazing trip.

Teach, Learn, Share

Umm, I'm not sure if I'm qualified to teach anyone anything. But I'll help you learn to snowboard or play hockey - or we can talk about books and music, which I'm pretty well versed in. I can maybe help Spanish speakers understand English a little better, or vice versa.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Canada, Chile, Norway, Peru

Countries I’ve Lived In
