Overview
About Me
I am originally from Washington, DC and have been living in upstate New York for school. I am passionate about studying causes and consequences of economic inequality and have done research on aspects of the issue, ranging from the US labor movement to coffee cooperatives in the Andes to agriculture and health in Sub-Saharan Africa. Good conversation, friends, and food are some of the best things in the world. I love learning and experiencing new ideas and places through my studies, friendships, art, and travels!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've hosted couchsurfers via my couch surfing roommates in the past and think it's an incredible community that I'd love to join. Though my current living situation prevents me from hosting, but I hope to be able to host within a year from now, at the latest!
Interests
In my free time, I like to read, hike, cook, draw, and spend time with friends.
I love almost all genres of literature--as long as it's beautifully written I devour any fiction book! In terms of non-fiction, I like memoirs and biographies, as well as books on history, math, and economics. I'm currently tackling Picketty's "Capital in the Twenty-First Century."
Hiking is my favorite physical activity because it takes me outdoors and has brought me to some of the most spectacular places in the world! I've hiked through canyons in Utah, waterfalls in New York, peaks and passes in the Rocky Mountains, cloud forests in the Ecuadorean Andes, desert in Israel, and the Great Wall in China, to name a few. In the winter I like skiing--cross country and downhill.
To me cooking and meals are one of the most important parts of a home and are definitely best shared. I would love to share my vegetarian cooking with fellow surfers and always love learning new recipes and new cuisines.
