About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See some, learn some

ABOUT ME

As a Danish writer once wrote: 'To live is to travel'.
I have an appetite for life.

I am a pretty easygoing person. I grew up with a bunch of brothers and sisters and an increasing rate of cousins, so being many around the table is not an alien experience for me!
I love to tell stories, and I enjoy listening to new stories. Actually telling and listening to tales might be the most beautiful thing to experience in the world. I find this amazingly interesting, since it is a way to share our knowledge with other people.

As mentioned somewhere else around here, my duty in life is to write stories about people. I believe this to be the best description, though it does spell 'economist' on my diploma. But what I do as an economist is trying to figure out why we do what we do, and hopefully be able to put the individual into a context so that we might understand the greater whole.
Phew, huh? This task is not one to overcome in a day.

PHILOSOPHY

is not constant. It probably will be when I'm sixty, but until then I'm still searching for a good one.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I plan traveling in the US from May until June, and thought this would be the best way of seeing different cities and (perhaps) getting to know some of the people living in those cities.
Hopefully I can later return the favour.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Interests

I really enjoy meeting new people. This often leads to good discussions, and if we even get around the themes of society, politics, music or philosophy, then such a day would count as a good one in my book.

I also like a good game of chess, but if you beat me up twice in a row, I might get a bit grumpy.

If you digg music too, let's be concert buddies! From throwing handsigns at a hiphop concert, to singing along with some indieband, playing air-violing to backup a symphony orchestra or plain headbanging at a death metal concert. I've done it all, and I love it.

Music, Movies, and Books

* Pulp Fiction - No need for a description.
* Us3 with 'Hand on the Torch' - I just keep getting back to that album.
* Moonwalking with Einstein - Great book about how we remember, and forget, stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

* Snowcamping near the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir in Stanislaus National Forest was extremely cold in the moment, but quite a strong experience.
* My first teaching experience. Again a frightful moment at first; the nervous sweating and bad thoughts about forgetting what to say - but then turning out to give more energy back than I ever imagined.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to juggle!
With any kind of stuff. I started out with kitchen knives during secondary school home economics classes, continued up with oranges on the northern hill slopes of the Jinotega region in Nicaragua, and now I'm doing it with numbers in Matlab.
If you need to juggle anything, let me be your sensei.
