Hi hello hey, I'm Cass. I'm a 21 year old Aussie abroad, having just finished my student exchange at l'Université de Strasbourg, and now I'm wandering around Europe before I start to work full-time in hospitality for a year around March. I'm currently based in Gwynedd, Wales.

I study Law/Arts back home in Adelaide, with a major in French language and a minor in Creative Writing. I speak French to a reasonable standard, although I'd love to improve!

I'm exploring my gender identity at the moment, and currently identify as genderqueer. I'm okay with she or they pronouns!

I'm a fairly strict vegetarian, but I'm okay with others eating/cooking meat around me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

1. I'm a student and I'm broke. :(
2. I'd love to get to know locals in the places that I visit, and get a full ~immersive~ experience rather than following the tourist trails.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I have such a wide and eclectic taste for music, but with a preference towards indie, alternative, experimental, etc. A small taste of bands I like: Animal Collective, Aphex Twin, Baths, Battles, Björk, David Bowie, Death Grips, Joanna Newsom, Kraftwerk, the Mountain Goats, The National, Neutral Milk Hotel, Nick Cave, Queen, Radiohead, Sigur Rós, St. Vincent, Sufjan Stevens, Toro y Moi, tUnE-yArDs, etc... I also like 70s/80s cheesy rock and pop, and One Direction. Go figure.

Films: I like David Lynch, Quentin Tarantino, Studio Ghibli, and tons of others. One of my favourite movies that I rewatched recently is Children of Men by Alfonso Cuarón.

Books: The Autobiography of Malcolm X is to this day the best book I've ever read. I also like Joan Didion, Albert Camus, James Joyce, and any books that tackle real-world issues. I'm always on the hunt for books by contemporary women authors.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I shaved my hair off for World's Greatest Shave in March 2014. I raised over $1,000 AUD in the process to go towards blood cancer research.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can happily get involved in activities, or keep to myself depending on what my host is like! I am a semi-competent chef (although I only cook vegetarian/vegan food), and actively enjoy tidying. I can also buy booze, and can make up critiques about wine.
