Overview
About Me
My husband Fred and I live in Central Australia (you know, the empty desert bit in the middle) and are in the process of packing up our lives and heading over to The Americas to live out of our backpacks for as long as we can sustain ourselves. We are both qualified high school teachers, though I currently work at CAAMA (Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association) helping young Aboriginal youth train and gain the skills to become radio broadcasters and journalists.
I love to travel (that's what they all say, hey?) and enjoy experiencing new cultures. I keep busy running a little pop up cafe at a local community radio station (8CCC) on Saturdays and have invested a lot of time in plotting and planning our upcoming adventures.
Fred is 1/2 Filipino and speaks fluent Visayan - the dialect spoken in Cebu where his family are from, he is an avid Arsenal supporter and plays field hockey here in Alice Springs. Fred also plays bass guitar in numerous bands (cover bands and originals).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
There is nothing worse than spending your time away in an impersonal hotel/hostel. Couchsurfing seems like a great option to meet local people and (hopefully) make some great friendships.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Everything but the doof, preferences for punk rock, alternative and even some folk.
Books: To Kill a Mockingbird, A Lesson before Dying, Antigone.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2009 I climbed a glacier in New Zealand... without my glasses on. I was scared, it was cold but it happened.
Teach, Learn, Share
Fred can teach guitar and the art of podcasting (The Lovebug), we are both TESOL qualified so we can help hosts with their English (if needed).
We would love to engage with people to improve our Spanish skills.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have some mad skills in the kitchen, not Masterchef style but "show me what we have and I will make something delicious out of it" style. Fun times, laughter, stories and silly YouTube discoveries.
