About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make it through the next week.

ABOUT ME

I'm usually very quiet. I listen more than I talk. I can be very sarcastic. I spend a lot of time in cafes. I've been told that I'm very "chill" on several different occasions. I guess it's true. I'm really laid-back.

PHILOSOPHY

"Some good things in life involve lube, this isn't one of them."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have only ever surfed before, and I am currently surfing (or trying to) as I travel Europe. However, when I return to Canada I would love to start hosting and sharing my time with potential surfers as so afar the experiences that I've had have been eye opening and have really made me rethink my approach to traveling and living.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couch surfed for the first time during August of 2013 when I went to Chicago with some friends to go to Lollapalooza. It was really positive experience and has made me more open to pursuing couch surfing as I travel, since I prefer to experience each city I visit as a local rather than a tourist. It seems like a more honest way to explore a place. It's also a great way to connect with like minded people around the world.

Interests

Going to shows, riding my bike too fast, drinking and making coffee, reading, writing, people watching, listening to music with good headphones, watching people make music, putting together meals with minimal ingredients, abstract art, drinking wine from the bottle at the side of a canal, loafting in cafés for hours on end and shooting the shit with baristas, taking the metro in any city besides my own.

How social media affects the way we interact with each other, as well as our own perception of ourselves.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read a lot. Right now I'm interested in Roland Barthes, Simone de Beauvoir, and Sartre. I've read many books by Fitzgerald and Hemingway. Haruki Murakami is probably my favourite modern author.

I like all kinds of music and am always looking for something new to listen to. I love going to shows, preferably ones at a bar or a small venue. An ideal evening includes relaxing and listening to music with a friend or someone I've just met - inside, outside, wherever, not saying much and just enjoying what we're sharing together.

My favourite movie is Blue Valentine. I really like Tarantino. As well as Lord of the Rings, Lost in Translation, and Almost Famous. I like some French new wave films, I watch them mainly to help improve my French (which is terrible).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen a lot of really amazing gigs. I try to expose myself to live music in each city I visit.

Also saw a bird shit while flying as I was sitting by a canal in Paris. Was in awe.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to jump past control officers on the metro, how to tie a shoe and count to two.

I'd like to learn how to stick 'n poke, as well as how to speak another language. I should be learning French, it's still not very good.

I'll happily share the music that I enjoy, I usually keep an usb with me. I'll pass along any books I have on me that spark your interest. I'll share with you my food, and my clothes.
