CURRENT MISSION
You know... stuff.
ABOUT ME
I'm not really a fan of describing myself. Find me on Facebook under the email address frombeakstobarks at gmail dot com. Send me a message so I know who you are and why you're friend requesting me; otherwise, I might ignore the request.
PHILOSOPHY
My aunt once told me that by doing what you love and are passionate about, you benefit not only yourself, but the world around you. I live by that principle.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Due to my living adventures over the past few years I had to take a hiatus from CS. But now that I'm living in a new city and am settling back in, I'm looking forward to being an active member again!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Before I even heard of this site, I'd been unofficially couchsurfing for years. I always crash with friends or acquaintances on my road trips, and friends, acquaintances, and traveling musicians have been welcomed into my home for as long as I've had a home to offer them.
Interests
Aside from traveling, I have three great passions in life: animals, writing, and music. I am fortunate enough to have a job which incorporates the first two, and spent a decade working in music in the past. So I guess I'm pretty lucky.
Beyond that, I also enjoy training animals of all species (*all* species... even reptiles, fish, and insects!), yoga, hooping, gardening, cooking, swimming, camping, studying other languages and cultures, theatre, satire, trying new things, hanging out with friends, and any number of other things. I'm generally open to ideas.

Music, Movies, and Books
This list is so vast I wouldn't even know where to start.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Watching the sunrise at 30,000 feet. To date the absolute most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
Teach, Learn, Share
The oxford comma is unfairly vilified. If it clarifies a sentence, use it; if it muddles a sentence, omit it. Also, the song "Oxford Comma" by Vampire Weekend is great.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm usually traveling for work, so I'm gone most of the day. Which means I'm a low-maintenance guest. I guess that's not sharing, but at least it's not consuming or imposing, either. :)
I usually bring a gift to my host as a thank you for letting me stay. And I'm happy to share good conversation, ideas, information, whatever I can offer that my host might find of interest!
