My name is Cassidy and I am the new Volunteer Coordinator for All Hands Volunteers South Carolina Flood Recovery. All Hands Volunteers is a non-profit specializing in Disaster Relief and Recovery around the world.

I first encountered All Hands Volunteers when I was an AmeriCorps NCCC member. I had the pleasure of working and living with them for 6 weeks in Detroit, Michigan. At that time they were rebuilding basements in Detroit that had severe flood damaged caused a year prior.

My experience with AHV in Detroit was one of a kind and one my most memorable from my time in AmeriCorps. Now I have the chance to work with them again in South Carolina rebuilding homes that were damaged by the flood in October 2015.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing to offer AHV South Carolina Flood Recovery as a place for people to stay and work as they travel the world!

Our program in South Carolina is in need of more volunteers. We are working hard and diligently to complete as much of this important work as we can. However, we need volunteers in order to do this.

We provide co-ed communal housing and meal 3 times a day and 5 days a week.

Our program is open to everyone over the age of 18. We can accept people younger than 18 but would need a waiver to be signed.

Interests

I love to travel, meet new people, and serve the communities I visit. I am also a amateur hula hooper.

Reading, comic books, super heroes, anime! I am a total nerd.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Other than get this awesome position at AHV, travel the mid-west for 11 months and perform volunteer work in each of the 6 sates I was in.

AHV South Carolina is a great hands on learning experience. Learn carpentry skills, media, and plenty of networking opportunities.

We love to spend our time off exploring the sites as well. We are located an hour away from Charleston and Myrtle Beach, SC.
