About Me
Hello, fellow couchsurfers! My name is Cassidy. I'm pretty new to couchsurfing, but I've been interested in checking it out for a really long time. A few things about me... I am a 21 year old college student currently living in Elkins, WV, where I am finishing up my BA in English. I love to write and read, travel, and play music, among other things. I am a singer/songwriter by trade -- it's a lot of fun, and it accounts for most of my income. I am also a costumer technician for my college's fine and performing arts department; that is, I help design and build costumes for the theatre and dance departments.
I'm a pretty normal, down to earth gal... I have a boyfriend, Adam, who travels with me a lot. Between the two of us, we have two huskies and a very affectionate yellow cat. We both grew up in West Virginia -- he in Elkins, me, in the southern part of the state. However, despite the fact that I am madly in love my state, I intend to leave post-graduation due to a lack of economic opportunity in my fields. I have lived in other places (Germany and California), and I absolutely love seeing new things and meeting new people, which is why couchsurfing seemed like a cool thing to try.
Other activities I enjoy include drinking coffee and wine, attending concerts, watching documentaries, crocheting, and just generally doing things that scratch my creative itch.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think I already answered this halfway, but basically, I'm a pretty broke almost-graduate who loves to travel and make new friends. Couchsurfing seemed like a neat way to combine those things, so here we are!
Interests
Reading, writing, music, art, ceramics, poetry, animals, letter-writing, museums, coffee, beer and wine... Actually, there are very few things in the world that don't catch my interest at least a little.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Stevie Nicks, Emmy the Great, Jewel, Grace Potter, Brandi Carlile, Janis Joplin, The Weepies, The Wailing Jenny's... Just to name a few. It's a very long list.
Movies: I don't watch a whole lot of movies, but one of my favorites is The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I also like Sunshine Cleaning and Moonrise Kingdom. I recently learned that my favorite genre is apparently called "Dramadies." I also enjoy a good documentary -- I love Blackfish, How to Die in Oregon, and Bridegroom.
Books - The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, Flannery O'Connor's short stories, Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kessey, pretty much everything by Kurt Vonnegut, A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I recently released my first album (June 2015). It's called Ghosts and is comprised of 14 original tracks.
Teach, Learn, Share
Oh gosh... I'm admittedly not a great teacher, but I'd be happy to teach you how to crochet, recommend some cool music or books, and let you snuggle with a sweet kitty and some dogs. Also, I can show you some really neat local hangouts and thrift shops, if you're into that sort of thing.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you need something specific, I'm generally very happy to accommodate. Otherwise, I will totally provide you with some coffee/tea/wine/etc., good conversation, a crocheted item or piece of handmade pottery.
