About Me

So I've traveled all over and have somehow never heard of Couchsurfing until today! I love making new friends and since I am a freelance makeup artist in LA I have quite a bit of flexibility to just up and leave when I want. Its equally stressful (when is my next job?!) but also entirely my dream job. I love working in the entertainment industry! I've got work and travel stories for days!

My last trip was 2 months of volunteering in the Philippines and backpacking through SE Asia...but that was 3 years ago and I'm ready to start traveling again! I'm a single mom so I wanna teach my boy about the world!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Hotels can be so impersonal and lonely (and can be pricey) so I am excited to try this out and meet some cool people while I travel around with my almost 2 year old kick ass son :) I also have a really cool apartment near the beach and a lagoon so I figured why not open up my place and share my big couch from time to time!

Music, Movies, and Books

My spotify playlists are so random! I go from like Celine Dion to 2pac in a blink of an eye! Currently also listening to Capital Cities, John Mayer, the 1975, a bit of drum and bass, Juanes, Haim, R.kelly (even though he is a perv....eeek)...ummm books? I go from voracious reader (Barbara Kingsolver, Grisham) to now having a busy work life and a kid so it takes me a year (minimum) to finish a book lol!

Fave movies? Adaptation, Happy Texas, Death Becomes her....CLUE...omg love Tim Curry and Madeline Kahn

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After 36 hours of labor (30 of it with no drugs) I popped a kid out in one push. Traumatizing and so effing awesome all at the same time.

Teach, Learn, Share

So back in the day I went to school with a dream of working in politics. 9/11 happened the same month I started university. It was an awesome 4 years at an International School in California with a lot of liberal, like-minded people who wanted to change the world and were tired of war, famine, corruption. I graduated, returned home to Washington D.C. and then said oh hell no. I have no interest in playing the politics game. If I want to contribute to effective change it needs to be at a grassroots level. As a makeup artist I have an opportunity EVERY DAY to connect with people, share stories, advice, learn about others and the human experience....and I feel so encouraged and more hopeful about our world when I turn off the TV and connect face to face.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Life is too short so I make joy a priority in my life. I can be crass and some say intimidating...and yes a bit of a potty mouth...but I would give the shirt off my back to someone in need. Or even just a warm meal and some company as we share stories over a beer or glass of wine...and watch my 2 year old discover something new (this week it was bubbles and gummy worms). I like to crack jokes and laugh or be serious and talk current affairs and discuss the crazy ass news.
