About Me

I feel like there is no better way to start this, then a little ol story of my life :) I am 28 years old and I graduated college in May 2016. After graduating, my biggest aspiration was to take a year long backpacking trip around the world. During college, I lived in Australia with my boyfriend Brandon, as well as backpacked across New Zealand, Europe, and America. All these places were incredible and we wanted more. But being recent college graduates and having a mountain of college debt, we were completely broke and living in my car. Instead of using the little bit of money we had toward getting an apartment, we decided to start a business to save up for our backpacking trip. I called every restaurant in my college town and begged them to let me use their kitchen in their off hours at night, to sell and deliver cookies and milk. They all told me I was a scam and a silly child. Until one day, I found Ry's Bagels. Its a small bagel shop in my town. The owner loved the idea and let us get our start using his kitchen between 7pm and 3:30am to run the business.

We lived in the parking lot of the bagel shop for a few weeks while we got the business up and running. Long story short, the business became very successful very fast. At this point, we saved up enough for our backpacking trip and could leave. But we had built Cookie Munchers from the ground up and we couldn't just let it die. Knowing it was time to move on from the bagel shop due to our limited space, we took a leap of faith and launched out first storefront location in November 2017. It has been very successful and a whole lot of fun! But we never forgot the reason we started all of this. We just appointed a General Manager and we are taking our first test run for one month overseas to the UK and Iceland. She is going to be running the shop the whole time and we are so nervous! We are so excited to see these places and we are looking for awesome people to stay with.

We also have a YouTube channel called Cass & Bran so let us know if you are cool with being on camera with us :) Right now it is a channel to show the struggles of starting a business with some travel mixed in. We hope to turn it into a complete travel channel soon!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am couchsurfing because I love meeting new people and seeing places from the local perspective. Even if I had all the money in the world, I would still want to couchsurf. I've met some of the greatest people in my life through couchsurfing with all different backgrounds and stories. You just can't get that type of experience from a hotel! The only thing I like almost as much as couchsurfing, is camping! :)
