About Me

Please find my original profile at /people/cascom. I live in Groningen, Netherlands and am hosting.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was born in a small village in the Italian Alps which speaks anything well but Italian. At the age of 16 I first escaped my country for an experience in a small city in China close to the border to North Korea. As that year probably got my life onto a different track, I started enjoying long trips - and after returning to Italy to complete the last year of secondary school I decided to escape again to Australia and find work as a door to door sales agent. Collected some money and left for an Asia-by-land trip, flew back to Europe to follow university in the Netherlands. Initially did that out of interest and could not help it but excaping for short solo-trips around Europe in all the holidays. Finally went to Shanghai for an internship/exchange and thinking about finally moving back home again as I believe the time has come to stop travels and focus on building the life I want to live.

I accept EVERYONE, and I absolutely LOVE to do that. Life is about community - and I want to build that community together with people. Being the most honest person I have ever met in my life, I am happy to say that what I cherish most in live is positivity, good vibes, and good people. This does not mean there are bad people: if you get to know them, if you break the ice and let the other open up to you, you will always find out that ABSOLUTELY everyone irrespective of age, gender, hair color (trust me that matters) has something valuable to add to your life - you just need to give it the time. Things may last or they might not, you either remain in touch or you don't feel comfortable sending a message again. People come and go in life, and potentially the best ones will remain. I believe life is about people - and it does not matter which job you take or whether you are 'successful' or not, the act of giving will always make you feel better.

Lastly, I would like to be impactful in life. For this reason I am trying to combine studies with people - If there is the possibility to do so. All this being said, I do not expect anything to host or meet you, I only want you to be positive about anything and everything -- If not, I will make you become it.

Hostel-life isn't real traveling to me, most people you meet are travelers themselves. The amazing opportunity CS gives individuals is simply staying with locals. I met too many people who travel for the sake of seeing places, I do it mainly to see the differences in people. Only by doing so one gets to realize how multi-faceted and amazing the world we live in actually is.

Interests:

I am a passionate swimmer and skier. I also could challenge you in chess- let's see who will win!

I recently started playing the guitar too. Love it! *outdated from 2019, but still valid post*

Would love to learn some Mahjong!

Honestly I have too many passions which I would all like to pursue. I would like to mix music, produce music, do photography, drone shots, produce educational videos, acting - as well as working in supernational organizations, academic research (economics), political activism, working in the EU to contribute to unity in what I believe is the best place in the world in terms of ideals and institutions - which I would be happy to spread to the rest of the world for a better of all. Being willing to help is the most attractive characteristic of people, and I would like to hold this one too.
