Sobre mí

They would say that I am adventurous and quirky. I like to go with the flow and abhor planning. I love learning new things and meeting new people :) I'd rather spend money on travelling than on anything else.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

Why not? I wish I found it sooner, but now's a better time than ever. My first Couchsurfing experiences were in China (2012) and Israel (2013) where I had an awesome time getting to know some locals and exchanging our contrasting upbringings and travel adventures. Since I moved to the UK, I've surfed couches in Holland, Belgium, Portugal, Berlin, Stockholm, Andalusia, Florence, Rabat, Paris, Budapest and Mexico City where I met even more fellow world wanderers with interesting tales to tell and would like to continue meeting more cool people and spread the love of travelling with others.

2018 UPDATE: I'm back in Toronto now, struggling with adulting, and working a '9 to 5' job. Finding ways to wisely use up my vacation days and take mini-vacations, so I can have a piece of mind and feed my wanderlust (on a streetsmart budget).

Intereses

Anything, especially things out of the ordinary, grabs my attention. In terms of hobbies, I like to delve into the realm of music whether it is listening to it or being serenaded in real life at concerts. On top of this, I love travelling and hunting for travel deals, meeting people, attempting to learn different languages and learning about different cultures.

Música, películas y libros

Music: I'm pretty eclectic. My current mood right now is a mix between 90s and current hip hop/rap plus some indie music. The last artists I saw live were at a music festival back home, which featured the likes of Hozier, Neil Young, Run the Jewels, Danny Brown, Kendrick Lemar, Vance Joy, Walk the Moon, and Sam Smith to name a few. My last solo concert was Franz Ferdinand.

Movies: Vary. Action films and Hayao Miyazaki (Studio Ghibli) and Disney/Pixar films are my childhood (and I love them). I currently follow Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix right now. Highly recommended! I was also thoroughly impressed by the Japanese film, "Kimi No Nawa", and listen to its soundtrack on repeat. Animation films are superb!

Last book I read: "The Diary of Anne Frank" while struggling to pull an all-nighter to avoid getting thrown out of a Burger King in Stockholm (the lengths I go through to save money sometimes).

Algo increíble que he hecho

Taking the back route (I mean hours of standing in cramped buses and trekking on the train tracks) to Macchu Pichu on its centennial;

Getting chased by wild monkeys down Penang Hill in Malaysia;

Running for dear life to evade being kidnapped or hustled by some Chinese goons in Guangzhou;

Hitchhiking on my own to waterfalls on Hawaii's Big Island;

Packing up my life and moving to an island off of South Korea to experience island life, then moving onto the UK;

Couch surfing solo throughout Belgium and Holland during Christmas;

Unintentionally 'baptizing myself into Royal Arab waters' at the Alhambra and managing to dry my clothes in a lavenderia for free;

Female solo travelling through Morocco and trying to evade marriage proposals and male harassment like the plague;

Getting hit by a bus in Mexico yet still limped up the pyramids at Uxmal;

Luckily scored VIA Rail train passes for $150 to travel by train with my sister across Canada for two weeks and hitching rides from kind strangers to get across Alberta to see the Rockies;

That was some crazy shit.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

Good company, great conversation, a tidy space (I'll wash the dishes and make sure your space is well-kept), cool cultural exchanges (I've lived and been to quite a lot of places so ask me anything about it), adventures in your city (depending on your schedule), respect towards your home and towards you (I'm pretty independent, but willing to hang if you are), and a little token from Toronto :)
