About Me

CURRENT MISSION

DO something. SEE somewhere. LOVE someone.

ABOUT ME

Hi! I just turned 21 this February and I'm currently studying abroad at the University of Leeds in England. I normally study at Columbia University in New York City. I moved there from Arlington, Texas, which is a nice little suburb, but I wanted to experience somewhere new, someplace new for me to discover.

I guess something interesting about me is that when at home, I live with my mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. We all moved in together when I was 16. It's amazing to be able to be there for my family when they need me. My grandma is my best friend (not in a pathetic way, she's awesome!). I love being able to experience whole other parts of life, by living with them. Most of my friends live in a bubble where everyone they know is between 15 and 25, excluding their parents. I've luckily been able to be around people from 15 to 95 for most of my life.

So yeah, estrogen doesn't scare me.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to keep pushing myself. New things, new places. I want to see what I can do! I wasn't put on earth to stay in one place.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm completely new to CS, but I'm so excited to meet other independent travelers who know the value of money and meeting new people. When I'm able to volunteer my own couch, I'd love to!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No experience yet! I'm a little nervous about staying with people I don't know, but one of my missions in life is to trust in people. (And to travel with a friend the first time I surf.)

Interests

I'm a connoisseur of fine television. (I'd like to work in the television business one day, hopefully writing.) I've watched pretty much every American television show from the past 15 years, and I'm currently expanding that list to the past 20 years.

I also love movies and musicals, ergo New York City. I love flea markets and city parks and Zoos! I love zoos! Every time I go off to school for the year, my mom and I go see penguins. Somewhere. Anywhere.

While traveling, I'm more of nature/museum/relax person. I couldn't do any of those for too much at once, but that's how I like to spend my time. I'm not so much of a clubbing/drinking kind of girl.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my favorite places on earth is the Yosemite National Park in California. Glacier Point is breathtaking!

The Pinkas Museum in Prague was so amazing, in a tragic, monumental kind of way.

In Berlin I had the opportunity to go to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp.

I actually think the Munich Olympic Complex was really interesting and the monument to the Israeli team was really nice.

Castle Hohenzollern in southern Germany was awesome! My favorite castle.

The Bodensee was absolutely gorgeous! For some reason it was also like 65F and sunny the entire time we were there, in the middle of March.

The Anne Frank House in Amsterdam was really amazing. I had to keep reminding myself that this was where they really lived. As sad and poetic as Anne was, I just fall to pieces thinking about Otto Frank losing his entire family.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've got an awesome collection of Broadway musical soundtracks...? I can cook a pretty decent green bean casserole and baked sweet potato chips.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominica, France, Germany, Hungary, Mexico, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Sweden
