About Me
Ciao!
My name is Caterina and I just concluded a two-years crazy Master in migration studies, called 'Crossing the Mediterrenan', who brought me to cross the Mediterranean sea in fact. In the last two years I have been changing home six times, from Greece, to Spain, from Italy, to Morocco, from France to Ethiopia. Both in my working and academic life, I am very dedicated at the protection of migrants' rights in Europe. I am a very expansive and quite joyful person, in love with travelling and meet people on the way. My ears are all open to listen to other peoples' sotries, everyone has something special to share.
In the next month I will take a one month break from everything, and I will backpag towards Sicily with my dear friend Annette, from Jordan, who has studied with me in the last two years.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I firstly joined couchsurifing when I was 21, and I had lived my first abroad experience. I remained enchanted by this way of travelling, and still I am. Now I call on Couchsurfing to assist me in this wonderful trip I am going to do towards the south of Italy!
As a graduation present I make to myself, I will travel from Naples to Palermo only by using regional trains. I need a month where there is no time and no rush. Couchsurfing will help me to find kind souls who will host me and my friend Annette during this trip, and will share with us a tip of the trip.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I am really in love with the Italian 'cantautorato'. Fabrizio De André plays my hearth and my mind, and many other Italian authors and singers marked my soul. Lately I started listening to "new" Italian music, as art must flow. I really like the groups 'Eugenio in Via di Gioia' and 'La Rappresentante di Lista'. For wht it concerns not Italian music, Mrs. Lauryin Hill, Nina Simon and Souad Massi are among my favorite women singers. I usually learn new music by the friends I meet.
Movies: 'Sulla mia pelle' tells the story of Stefano Cucchi, who died while in prison custody. 'Va, vis et deviens', I watched it the night before leaving for Ethiopia.
Books: L'Amica Geniale, all the four books really brought me somewhere else. 'The Grapes of Wrath' accompanied me the first time I went volunteering for refugees on the island of Lesvos, in 2016.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was in Ethiopia I went camping on the Nile falls, in the north of the country. There, I went hiking to what I thought it was a simple monastry. There I happened to be in a commuity of 20.000 people at least, all gathered around what it is believed to be the new Messiah, whose words and blessings have the power to clear any bad thing in peoples' lives. What it is more crazy about it, it is that I had lunch with the Messiah... the rest of the story I will tell you once we meet :)
