About Me

I'm from Ireland but I've lived in the US for nine years. I live in Maryland which is near D.C. I've been backpacking before but I stayed in hostels the whole time, I loved it but I want to try something different. I don't smoke or drink ( up to you if that last one is a positive or negative) and I'm more into the historical and cultural aspects of a city rather than partying or doing beer crawls.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I just finished a CertTESOL course in Austria and want to see a bit more of Europe before I head back to the States. I've been staying in hostels for a little bit and it's a great way to meet other travelers but not so much for meeting locals. I've never couchsurfed before but I would really like the different travel experience. An important part of travel is trying new things right?

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all movies that aren't horror. I could talk your ear off about not just the films but also movie news and random movie trivia facts (please feel free to tell me to shut up if i do this too much). But my favourite type of movies are heist films, superhero films and anything sci fi or fantasy.
Most recent movie I saw was "Going in Style."
I also love to read, usually I have both a fiction and non fiction book on me, and my favourite genres are (fiction) sci fi and fantasy, steampunk, murder mystery, and fairytale/mythology retellings.
For non fiction I like history, linguistics, film industry books, and fairytale/mythology and folklore.
Best book I read recently was "To Pixar and Beyond" by Lawrence Levy.
For music I like rock and pop and musical theater.
